Hello, I have a question before I get married and even begin the sponsorship process. I plan to go the United States to get married to my American fiancee this December. I'm just going to be there for a week for the legal ceremony, and then I'll be going back to Canada. Would there be any reason for me to use anything other than the regular travel Visa issued to Canadians? I heard that Canadians who marry Americans and intend to live in the United States need to get Fiance visas, but we're going to be living in Canada, so is that a non-issue for me?

No Fiancé Visa is necessary; however, it is beneficial to have an employment letter, recent pay stubs and tenancy agreement, return plane ticket, etc. just in case they give you a hard time. Since you are getting married in the U.S., they might think you might just decide to stay with your fiancé in the US after the wedding. It is best to tell the truth and have evidence to back-up you have solid ties to Canada. We were in the same situation and I am glad I can pass this information into others. Congratulations!

I figured I'd ask in this thread since people who married Americans or are Americans hang out here, and we're going to be doing a US outland application. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help us!

Things have gone quiet for US applicants, it seems. First time I remember having to go to the second page to find this thread, and near the bottom of the second page no less!
Was hoping for some good news on the Tuesday eCAS update, but still stuck at "Application Received"...

Yeah nothing has moved for me either. I've been "In Process" since August 4th 2015. Really not sure if "In Process" truly means anything for me since I'm a June applicant.

It's frustrating for sure. I think everyone is sleeping at their desks in Ottawa or something :P

wasn’t it supposed to get approved by now since we did the medical upfront? :-\

Feeling a little nervous. I'm a February applicant (AOR on February 10th) and I received an additional documents/RPRF email on July 30th so I paid the fee and emailed the receipt just like it said in the email. I haven't heard anything or seen any changes online. Is this normal? Am I just freaking out for no reason? Haha

Don't worry - Many late January and February applicants also received this email. It is good news and means everything is on track:)

I'm also a February applicant, got the same email and still nothing. So it's normal.

Woohoo, congrats! Now on to join us in the line for the PR cards, lol.

Ileahdol...Congrats!!!!!

Update...Yesterday we got an email indicating that the CIC could not open the link we sent to her ( CIC dr was right, they can't open attachments!!!)...I have to giggle cause we knew that something would go wrong with the info requested from 1990 last Friday so we couriered the same info in a hard copy on Saturday and it should be delivered today!!!....Keep giving us the hoops CIC and we will jump through them!

Oh Sunset! It is good that you sent them a hard copy too. This has been a very stressful process for you, but you are almost at the end:)

So we finally got DM after 10 and a half months today. Just wanted to come on here to thank everyone who helped us out and answered our questions. Good luck to all still waiting.
