Just checked ECAS. Status of our application has been changed to DM! So they DO update on Saturdays! Probably have a team of minions who do the data entry. Fingers crossed it's good news -- now we wait for snail mail. Hoping you'll hear very soon, Maria, and those of you who have been waiting longer than us. I was a bit worried we hadn't submitted enough supporting evidence for proof of relationship (only 116 pages, 11 of which were photos, 6 per page, and 4 letters of support), but as they haven't asked for any more, I'm hoping we'll get a positive decision. Will believe it when my spouse has her COPR in hand!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

We are very happy to see people receiving the DMs but we applied in August and are still at Application Received!

Is there anyone else still waiting from August for a sponsorship visa? We have not had any correspondence and when I called I wasn't given any information. I asked for my notes back in April and received an email almost 30 days later asking for a copy of my spouse's ID with his signature. Still have not received the notes.

It's so frustrating I could almost cry. Our application was very straightforward. We have a 9 month old baby and we just need to be able to get on with our lives.

Yes unfortunately we are an August applicant. Still in Application received for the second stage. They lost our first page from our application in stage 1 so we had to resubmit that. They never told us. We had to phone to find that out so it delayed our SA until Dec 14. Our medical is also now 13 months old. CIC won't tell us anything anymore via phone as their policy changed 2 weeks ago to not talk at all. So now waiting for our Access to info which should arrive in the next 7days.
CIC is terrible at process. Our application is extremely straightforward and clean bill of health. We live an hour from each other.
Can't wait to never have to deal with CIC again.

Quick question about Certified True Copies. The application guide says that photocopied documents have to be taken to a notary public and be certified as true copies. Is that only for really official documents like wedding certificates and passports, or does that include everything you make a copy of in the proof of relationship section, like copies of your lease, bank account info, photos, etc?

And I just thought of another question, this one about sponsoring a common law partner. The application guide says to do the Statutory Declaration of Common Law Union only if your partner is your co-signer. Should we not bother with that one then, since I'm sponsoring her, not co-signing with her? I feel like that declaration would be really a pretty good proof of relationship thing to include.

I'm pretty sure the certified true copy thing is only if your docs are translated from a language other than French or English. As for the Stat Declaration of Common-Law, go ahead and do it anyway. The instructions say that, but I've seen people get asked for it later when they didn't include it. It's a good idea, as it's further evidence of your common-law relationship. I liked getting it done, made things feel more 'official.' Also, in my notes, they noted "Statutory Declaration of Common-law received" as if it were something they were looking for.

Yes they seem many times to do their ECAS updates on Tuesdays in the am, and Saturdays in the am.. On both those days for me sometime between 12:30am or so and 7:00am or there abouts my ECAS changed. So if you go through yet another workweek with no updates all is not lost because they will update on weekends too.

And btw Congratulations ! 8)

Seriously...what is going on with us October (and September and November) applicants? This is ridiculous. :o

VAtoBC is a late Oct 2014 applicant who just went to a DM status, so that in theory should be some good news to see for you mtn_air 8) I agree though, CIC is all over the place and your guess is as good as anyone else's here as to what's going on?? :-\

I got a DM too, they mailed the CoPR on the 17th. I hope to have it next week. I'm extremely frustrated with what CIC is doing, jumping around all over the place, leaving a lot of Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec applicants hanging. It's not right....

People sent pages of photos? We had like 6 photos from various times in our relationship and then proof of texting to the US and proof of travel, like 20 trip itineraries over the years and marriage license. We just never really took pictures together, we're not picture people we're gamer people. What ever hope it's enough, we're getting sick of traveling.

Is anyone familiar with the SIN? I am going to apply and had a couple ?'s.

1. How fast are you given a number, is it mailed or issued straight away?

2. Can I apply with my COPR? Quote: Confirmation of Permanent Residence issued by CIC, accompanied by either a travel document (for example, a foreign passport) or an alternate photo identification issued by a provincial/territorial authority (for example, a driver's licence). Note:The Confirmation of Permanent Residence is acceptable if used within one year of the date you became a permanent resident (IS it acceptable before signed by an officer?). The Permanent Resident card is required after this period. http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sin/apply/proof.shtml

Thanks!

1) You can apply at any Service Canada office and get a number right on the spot that you can start using immediately. My wife got hers at the airport 5 minutes after she landed (though not all airports have a SIN counter).

2) Yes you need government ID and your signed copy of COPR
