CIC has been promising that inland times would improve for quite a while, so that seems to be materializing. The Buffalo two-step was unexpected, but eventually should also lead to faster processing times and lower costs for CIC.
but the result came out quick different what they thought...
not about inland but outland was (or is)... increasing processing times(dont go by the time written on website, they never follow it) and decreasing costs for cic

The inland times spiked substantially because they switched to the new computer system. But now they are dropping - and rather rapidly. At this rate I'm thinking they may get down to 2-3 months for inland by this time next year (but this is wild speculation on my part).

The outland times are now spiking for similar reasons. But in 18-24 months those times will likely fall as well. The problem is anyone caught in the system now is paying the price. :'(

Hey, were your passport pages requested sooner because of your previous history? We filed on the same day it looks, so just wondering if I could possibly expect mine soon...

yea.. computergeek got his ppr very early..
but if you look at his timeline (his previous application ) he waited for 3years ..
so he deserves to be the first one to get ppr

but dont lose hope..we all marchers are next in the queue :)

It really is individualized. I moved to "In Process" after others but received "PPR" sooner. Then again, I had the advantage of having been thoroughly reviewed previously, so the only issue for our application was the legitimacy of our relationship. Security had already been done (for a previous refused application) and I'd been living in Canada since that previous application was processed. There are so many factors involved, it really is impossible to know.

Plus, the whole Buffalo two-step is causing lots of problems.

Back in March the advice was "go outland, it's faster" and I'm now seeing couples from February 2012 inland getting first and second stage approval while February 2012 couples outland are still waiting. So things keep changing.

LA required my physical passport. My PPR was faster than normal for two reasons: first, I had previously been examined (in skilled worker), received a positive selection decision, passed everything except medicals. Since that time, I've been living in Canada anyway, which means that a new background check would be quite easy (even though I also submitted a fresh FBI clearance letter). Second, I had an active judicial review action on the original refusal and because it was likely I was going to prevail, Justice Canada pushed CIC to complete processing of my application - originally so they could use that as an argument to dismiss my case, but at the end because I agreed to withdraw it if they would just finish it up. Had I not been likely to prevail, I suspect I'd have been the last to finish.

Just wondering how you know we're next in the queue? I just seem to be getting differing opinions from the fact that Ottawa is backed up, and we could now be waiting closer to a year. I check my eCas at least 3-4 times a day, out of sheer obsessive compulsion, but I have zero idea what to actually expect.

I was just being positive.. and even few march applicants ecas shows in process and their files are in LA which means they can be next for ppr.

Isn't ECAS only really updated on Tuesdays? I check it Tuesday and maybe once more on Thursday, but other than that, I don't bother. 1) Don't want to drive myself nuts 2) some people never get ECAS updated and then receive PPR.

Not suggesting people shouldn't check it, but if I checked it 4x daily, I'd lose my mind....

No, E-cas is updated pretty much any time. It's not uncommon for people to see changes over a weekend even.

I've always had this problem. It's just become a part of my daily routine. I did the same thing when I was in university and waiting for grades to come out. I just can't help it...

Got another update: received our UCI today and it shows both my wife (sponsor) and myself (applicant) as received. I assume we're looking at another 6 months of waiting, but it's good to know we're in the system. Now to see if the CIC accepts my fieldprint police certificate...even though they are on the official FBI website, I still have my doubts about them accepting it :(

Maybe you should consider getting more fingerprints and getting new FBI certificate? I don't know what fieldprint is, but you have such a long time to wait you could get regular FBI prints, wait the 9-13 weeks or whatever ridiculous time it is now, and if there is a problem with your current prints and CIC requests new ones, you just have to pop them in the mail?

I got my prints throgh a channeller so I wouldn't have to wait so long. 99% sure those are accepted, but anybody have any thoughts on that? I am well into stage 2 by this point, I wonder if they would have requested them if my current ones weren't good. Of course, my file has probably remained unopened since Ottawa received it :(

There have been a few cases of people who went through a channeller who were later asked for the FBI clearance, but your mileage may vary.

Hello, Im currently living in san diego,CA, USA. I'm sending my wife my application so we can send the sponsor forms all together to Ottawa. I already did my medical examination and sent it to Ottawa. I'm confused to what Visa office I should write to have the application processed, I was under the impression that it was in Ottawa but I have been reading that I should write a Visa office in US. In my application form IMM0008 question 4 "Immigration office requested for processing this application" I put, Ottawa as well.Since I am in San Diego I was thinking of writing L.A. but again I am unsure if I need to or just leave it all to be processed in Ottawa.

Any ideas?, thank you :)
