Thanks for the info. The events we went through that caused us to miss the deadline were extremely extenuating. I am thinking they probably closed the case as the online stuff is only updated Tuesdays?? and that would mean in 5 business days, the CIC processed what I emailed them which I'm guessing is highly unlikely. I have contacted my local MP (I'm the sponsor) and they told me to come in tomorrow to fill out some forms.
I wouldn't go by what happens in ECAS. It is updated more than just on tuesdays, and it seems random, so ECAS shouldn't be used to determine anything really. your MP will be able to help determine next steps... good luck!

Definitely don't go by ECAS - our sponsor approval still says in process but we already had a decision made. I got my DM status on a Saturday morning and had checked it the day before - updates happen all over the place.. LOL :D

CoPR status update, for anyone following along :p

DM: June 4th 2016 - still no COPR
I live in Georgia.

I contacted CIC call centre this afternoon and was basically told to keep waiting for the CoPR.
I sent a CSE and an email to Ottawa last Thursday and have not heard back from them yet.
The Call Centre could only tell me that yes, I was approved and the notes in the system were dated June 2nd.

Question: Is the COPR just a letter by itself, does it come in a package, do they send back application materials? I'm just trying to think why it would take so long. Even if they didn't mail it right away it's been 3-4 weeks.

Second Question: Has this happened to anyone else that anyone's seen?

DM doesn't always mean they've mailed it immediately, and sometimes mail is just slow for no real reason. I've had stuff take a month just from BC to California. It's an actual letter they send you, just legal sized.

Try calling the help line, not sure if the toll-free number works in the USA, but there is a regular number you can use, 613-944-4000 . Try during their off-peak times or you won't get anything.

Thanks Aquakitty. I did call the help line this morning and they weren't much help, other than to tell me to keep waiting and that I was approved on the 2nd of June. She made it sound like the letter was sent right around then too.

I guess what worries / bugs me is that I haven't seen this happen to anyone else with their COPR. I'm just worried that it's lost in the mail. Or that our mail carrier doesn't understand the way they wrote the address (we live in an apartment). It won't feel real until I have that letter in my hand...

She should only apply when she's ready to relocate to Canada. Theoretically she could land as a PR and then abscond back to the USA for up to 3 years and still meet her PR obligation, but if CIC finds out that's her intention she could have issues. There's really no point in doing this before she's ready to move anyways.
Assuming her husband is a Canadian citizen, I read that her time spent with her spouse, outside of Canada, can still count towards maintaining PR.

Do you know if this is correct?

More or less the same thing happened to me approximately this time last year. You in fact had better luck than I did, since I could never get the call centre to tell me whether or not I was approved after DM. I will shamelessly admit to panicking, but I did receive a response via e-mail around the same time the CoPR was printed confirming it was on its way.

As far as I could reconstruct afterwards, CIC was batch-printing CoPRs, and there was a delay of a few weeks between the decision and the printing. Once it was printed (from the date on the confirmation), I received it in mail (Montreal) a few days later.

The CoPR is a pair of papers, one of which is kept by CIC when you land. If I remember correctly, it came in a manilla-type envelope with other associated documentation describing the landing process.

Thank you! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I have seen a lot of people who got DM around the same time and well after me all get their COPR; so I don't know that there was a delay in processing. unless its like everything else and seems to have no rhyme or reason. 8)

That is very odd... especially since I always thought that they don't mail PR cards outside Canada. They are supposed to mail it to the Canadian address you provide on landing.

Yes that is what I thought but like I have said before EVERYTHING had been opposite from the norm for us!!!...I have sent a 3rd email....we are having our mail forwarded in the USA so its fine but I just shake my head again...and the good side of it is that if it is being sent to the US it will be out of striking Canada Post!

Yea you are correct, but they worded it like the spouse alone was in the US and the husband in Canada.

Even if you live with your spouse outside Canada, during the process you still have to show you plan to relocate to Canada upon receipt of the PR. It's not a problem once you have the PR, as long as you have proof you were living with your spouse outside the country for the required time period.

What the heck? That's really strange indeed.

The whole point of PR is to reside in Canada. They are supposed to send it to your Canadian residential address. I just hope it doesn't get held up at the border. Yay CIC....

Aquakitty who know from my post that everything is opposite for us, so I am not surprised....We are getting our US mail forwarded to an US address just across the border...we did this just in case...we were covering all our bases and it appears its a good thing we did...
