We are getting everything ready to send in for our outland application. My husband is the Canadian, I am the American :) I got my fingerprints today so I will be sending my prints/application for my police check tomorrow. The only panel physician in the area is booked until mid April. We are visiting my husbands family [in BC and by car] for Easter.

My question: even though we live in the States and I am applying outland, is there any way that I could get my medical exam up in Canada while we are visiting? What is the price up there? Down here the office charges $395

Thank you!

Well...BC is a large province, but if you're going to be in Greater Vancouver, I suggest calling Dr. Cheryl Anderson for an appointment. It's probably still ~ $230 CAD (~ $172 USD) and you can get everything done (exam, lab and radiology) in the same building.

We are going to be in the Okanagan. There is one doctor who is a panel physician. I will call tomorrow to see what the chances of any availability are.

So to clarify - i CAN see a Canadian doctor even if I am applying outland from the US?

Also, how does that timeline work? I send in my application the day or two before I see the doctor or I see the doctor and send in my application a day or so after?

Thanks for obliging what might seem like obvious things :) :)

Yes you can see a doctor anywhere as long as it's a panel physician. My spouse went to that doctor in Kelowna, it's pricey :/ You have to drive across town to get your X-rays but they do e-medical and take the required photos there.

You send your application after the medical, you have to include a document they give you with your application.

Yes, you can use a Canadian panel physician. No issue.
See the doctor then send the app. You'll see him and need to do Xrays and blood work. Then you send in the piece of paper the doc gives you with the rest of your app

Hi! Thank you so much for that info! May I ask how much in total?

Hello All,

Similar to what I posted in the September thread...

Late last week I sent CIC an email after my wife's application turned to DM on February 28th. (US Outland).

CIC responded back this morning and said...

"Dear Sir/Madam,

Your application has been finalized and your documents were returned to you by regular mail on 2016/02/26."

I hope this means that they are sending COPR... anyone else ever have experience with this?

We are in Calgary waiting for the mail... so hope that it will be here any day since it has been over 1 week since they apparently mailed the documents.

I just wanted to share my excitement with people who will understand!! I called yesterday to schedule my medical exam in Seattle and they were booking out 6 weeks AND it cost $400. I called an office in BC this morning and I can get in next week and it is about half the price!!! This is such a relief. We can apply and submit next week instead of in mid-late April!! I'm submitting my prints for the FBI police check today, too. I love when things feel like they are going smoothly ;) ;)

Hey!

I was wondering if anyone knows how long it usually takes to get your PR Status to change to "In Process"? Currently, I have 2 lines on PR Status (App + Medical Received). If I call CIC, can they give me an answer whether or not PR App is in CPC-Ottawa?

Thanks a bunch.

Quick Question,

If I were to get my medical now, and then apply in 6 months, would I have to redo my medical if my approval doesn't come before 1 year after my medical is completed?

You should do your medical as close as you can to sending out your application. They are only good for one year.

Thanks for the response! And BTW, you can save alot by getting the medical done in Canada. I'm in a bad position because I need the medical for my NAFTA work permit (I work in the the healthcare field). I'll just re-do it if I have to. It is what it is.

Hey ya'll,
My application arrived in Canada on October 7th, 2015.
I got SA in December
I saw DM online Feb. 29th
Today, March 9th, I received CoPR in the mail!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those of you that are still on the journey, keep holding on!!!!!!!

I plan on moving to Winnipeg at the end of April. The next month and a half is going to be busy preparing the move. I'll do my best to post my landing experience when I can.

Does anyone that has already moved have a good recommendation for a moving van rental? I'm moving from Detroit, MI to Winnipeg, MB. My partner is finishing school in London, ON so we might rent a moving vehicle in London and move together. Oh well, we'll figure it out.

Still waiting on our COPR to arrive, received our DM Feb 29th, mail takes forever to get to PEI. We are wondering if my husband needs to extend his visitor status if he doesn't land before his 6 months are up.
