Hey guys hope evrything is going great here for us all.... I have a question, my husband quit his job to help his mom to be the full time caregiver of his mom while waiting for his papers to be approved. My question is will that affect his application cause he is now currently unemployed? I am the sponsor and not him though...hmmm. Should I tell immigration of what happened? That he quit his job because of his mom's health? I just need to know cause this is driving me insane!!!! ??? ??? ???

Unless you have a really complex case, I wouldn't spend money on a lawyer. There are so many people here who are willing to help and have knowledge about everything. The vast majority of people who apply do it themselves . Feel free to message me personally on here if you ever need help; otherwise posting on the forums is sure to get you an answer, too!

This. If everything is straightforward there is no reason to have a lawyer. It feels daunting, and it can be time consuming to fill out the paperwork and making sure everything is complete, but there's a wealth of information on these forums and plenty of people willing to help. And I've seen so many lawyers/consultants give bad advice...most just don't know that much about the process.

Does anyone know what is involved with a PR/Rehab interview?...They are not asking for relationship info, we have been married for 10 years, CIC is asking for references from three people, which they already have, court docs from 25 years ago...Anyone have any ideas?..I have searched a couple of sites and CIC but there appears to be no info...

No impact at all. You don't have to do anything.

Checked ECAS today and now have that extra line, stating that they started processing my application on May 28th. That sort of confirms what I've always thought happened to our SA, which didn't happen until July - that it was actually done in May when it should have been, but someone forgot to update the info. Guess I will know more when we get out notes.

In case anyone was wondering, once you actually "land" you have to wait about 8-10 weeks to receive your actual PR card in the mail. You are still allowed to travel with your COPR so it's not really a big deal having to wait to get the hard card. I received mine last Thursday and that made it almost 8 weeks to the day of my landing. You don't get any notification, you just have to check your mail. (kinda like the COPR)

It feels good to finally have it after almost a year from applying! Hang in there everyone! I know the waiting is hard, but you'll get there! ;D

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please note that we can only accept unzipped PDF, JPG or .doc files that are attached to an email, totaling less than 5 MB.

Please reduce the size of all your files and resend your documents so they meet these standards.

My best friend is a graphic designer, I just sent her my huge PDF and like magic she had it under 5 MB xD I have no idea how she did it though.

Easy to compress the data size in Photoshop. If you don't want to use Photoshop or similar there are safe online alternatives such as: http://smallpdf.com/compress-pdf .

This is taken straight out of the letter we received from Washington:
Ø Documentary evidence supporting your statements regarding your rehabilitation. This can include:
§ Letters of reference from professionals (such as parole officers, doctors, counselors, educators, etc.) who have participated in your rehabilitation process
§ Evidence that you have obtained therapy or counseling
§ Evidence that you paid restitution to your victim(s)
§ Documents demonstrating you completed a rehabilitation or substance abuse program
§ Documents demonstrating you have participated in training for life-skills, or social/survival skills
§ Certificates showing your completion of educational or vocational training programs
§ Letter(s) of employment. These letters should provide information about your dates of employment, your position, and your work responsibilities.
§ Evidence of any community involvement or volunteer activities
§ Information about your family circumstances/responsibilities. This can include:
¨ a marriage certificate
¨ divorce orders
¨ custody agreements/orders (for your children)
¨ birth certificates (for your children)
¨ adoption order (for any child you have adopted)
¨ power of attorney (for an elderly parent/relative)

This might help too:
Ø All court documents and certificates of disposition for any changes or convictions. These documents must show the judgment imposed and all sentencing details.

Ø Documentary evidence showing if and when you completed all terms and conditions of your sentence(s). This includes information related to release from custody, discharge from probation, payment of any fines/costs/restitution, reinstatement of your driver’s license, etc. The documents must clearly demonstrate:
§ If all the terms and conditions of your sentence have been completed
§ The date on which each term and condition of your sentence was completed

They have all of that because of the past approved Rehab/TRP and the application that we sent in May....they are asking for court docs from 25 years go...my hubbys lawyer has submitted a request to the courts cause when we tried the Clerk and the States Attorney the info does not exist anymore...I was wondering about the interview...what questions they ask...I can't find any info on someones experience..

If they are asking for all this wait till you get the letter asking for a "photo copy" of some law from like 1986 after you have submitted all of this info!!!...Our lawyer laughed when we asked for this!...Seriously CIC asked for a copy of the law on the books in 1986...Its one of the reason the first rehab took 2.5 to 3 years to approve...once we submitted that final piece the rehab was approved...So CIC tells us to jump and we do!
