Preparing my first income tax return since our wedding last September. My spouse is a US citizen and resident. How do I tell CRA that she has no SIN, and I'll be claiming no deductions? Can't get answers on any phone lines or on website.

Permanent Residence
1. We received your application for permanent residence on February 3, 2014.
2. We started processing your application on March 3, 2015.
3. Medical results have been received.
4. A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision.
The only thing they were lacking was an accidental death insurance policy. We sent a copy into them and they said they didn't have it, but I have misplaced the original. I know it's here somewhere, but I don't think it's very important.
Are you talking about how long it took BeShoo? There were additional document requests and I think some extra Keystone cops shenanigans in this case. So one of the ones that makes up one of the worst case scenarios.jamsham12 said:Ottawa is taking the full 15 months?

Please remember that all American citizens must file U.S. tax returns, no matter where they reside. So next year she will need to file a U.S. return next year for the 2015 tax year.VAtoBC said:Preparing my first income tax return since our wedding last September. Just a quick follow-up to this:rhcohen2014 said:right, cbsa could care less. you can drive it across as often as you need to. before going through the process, the only issue you need to be concerned about is whether your insurance company cares and/or how long of a grace period the province gives you when you are actually "living" in canada as a pr with a us vehicle (not insured, registered, plated in canada).
the entire process is actually easy. it's just a lot of steps to coordinate. for me, i had the most difficulty securing canadian insurance. otherwise, it was a lot less painful than anticipated.
Congratulations!! We are also August applicants, so hopefully soon we will hear something from CIC...fingers crossed!!oconnoec said:Update on ecas this week (finally!)
