But that sounds like you can either chose to enclose a return envelope (if you want anything but first class) or have them ship to you with first class if you don't want to enclose a return envelope. Am I right in saying that? thanks.

That's how I read it ... doesn't help that it's not mentioned in the instructions.

Great. I didn't send an envelope. I'll call them on Monday and see what they expected. Thanks.

Dear friend,
I mailed the fingerprints on June 8-th 2010.I didn't mention any kind of envelope on my application.I just wrote:Due to Immigration proces to Canada on 27-th August 2010.

Can anyone on this forum who applied for FBI Clearance guide about time lines for shipment of the letter from FBI? How many days it take normally to reach the letter to you once it is posted by FBI by regular First Calss Mail from USA to other countries?

Dear all

I applied for FBI record and my letter was recieved on desk in US on July 1st, 2010 (07/01/2010) as reported by my courrier TCS from Pakistan. In a letter dated August 27th, 2010 (08/27/2010), it was reported to be recieved as on July 2nd, 2010 (07/02/200) by the FBI office and was reported to be returned on August 24th, 2010 (08/24/2010) with a result " NO ARREST RECORD - FBI ". The Envelope was Postmaked as of August 30th, 2010 (08/30/2010) that was recieved at Islamabad, Pakistan September 5th, 2010 (09/05/2010) and it was deliverd to me in my city on September 7th, 2010 (09/07/2010).

Well friends;
1. I took my own fingerprints by myself using a standard Black Stamp Pad.
2. I made 3 set of fingerprints which I sent.
3. I sent the application with a $ 18 Draft.
4. I sent my application with a request of expiditious handelling by July 1th, 2010 ( 07/10/2010).
5. I also made a photocopy of the wholeset and kept it with me.

So Conclusively my FBI record was prepared in 53 Days ( 7 Weeks 4 Days ) and I recieved t back in 9 Weeks altogether.

Hope it Helps.

Alwas Hopeful

Hopeful Canadian

Mine came in just 7 weeks.

I applied on July 1, 2010
Got my report back on August 23, 2010

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the delay. Finally got my prints back and was preparing final notice to Immigration. I sent self addressed stamped "Priority Mail" Envelopes with both my background checks (3 checks I did but 1 expired) I will give you my timeline and the comment now received on the retrun envelope. PLEASE RECHECK EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU MAIL YOUR REQUESTS

1st Fingerprints done in Oct 2008 (expired)
2nd set FBI Check done May 13, 2010, VA office rec them May 24th.
3rd Fingerprint done July 2nd. I began stressing on the time it was taking to get my fingerprints so I sent another fingerprints to the FBI and with the attached form this time.
August 2nd received a notice on my May FBI Check (thought the envelope was my prints, I was so upset) turned out to be letter stating Insufficient Admission-Letter Stating Reason for request and contact information (the form that you download from the internet). I wrote a detailed letter and completed the form as they requested and fax the information back to the number that was on the letter. (Now we are at the 10 week mark). Called the FBI Office weekly (they can only tell you what the screen says and can't provide updates), yea sure they took my number every time I called but never called back. FBI 304-625-5590
On Sept 13th, 2010 rec my prints that were sent in May (14weeks). They were completed on Sept 2nd but the a week to go throu "final screening" to be mailed out. I got back the prints sent July 2, 2010 yesterday, Sept 15, 2010 9 1/2 weeks (the date of completion was 8/30/2010)

The Notice that is returned to you now shows the date received and the date returned (it takes two weeks after that date to be mailed back to you. So if you've provided a prepaid envelope that is express mail don't be concerned.

Important info the Letter states: ....In order to protect personally identifiable information, as of August 17, 2009, FBI policy has changed to no longer return the fingerprint cards. This form will serve as the FBI's official response.

The letter looks like a regular letter (didn't even have the red stamp as before) and doesn't like official. However when I made a copy for my files before I sent it off to immigration the copy comes out with "UNATHORIZED COPY" all over the page so it is watermarked.

Does anyone have a timeline as to when Passports will be returned now that the Visa office has all documents? My file is being processed from the POS Trinidad Office
