Hi guys.. anyone of a site where I can do a US criminal background check for my wife... she was in the US last year for 8 months or so.. thanks

If this is for immigration purposes she requires an FBI check. Following the instructions here:

She is applying for canadian immigration and was told that she requires a US background check because of her 8 months in california as a visa student

Then she needs to FBI check as mentioned above.

It includes all the forms and anythin you need.

You can also call them and they will help you.

Thanks for the FBI site... but is this only one I can use? This takes 16-18 weeks (4 months)... my wife has been here for 2 months already as a visitor from S. Korea ... any suggestions on what I should do .. do i request for an extension to her visitor visa separately? ... please help .. i procrastinated too much

That's an average timeline, and I think they use it to under-promise and over-deliver, LOL. I applied for mine from Jamaica because I was a student in the US, and it took exactly 7 weeks from the day they received my fingerprints in VA to the day my husband got the results in Canada, including 6 days spent in the mail. So it really isn't as bad as the website makes it out to be. Someone on this forum even got theirs back in under a month!

Actually my wife was in the US from Aug 2009-May 2010 but.. during that 9 months in the US on F1 VISA (student visa) she did come visit me in Canada 3 times and NEVER stayed in the US for 6 months consecutive .... does she still need to do the FBI criminal check? i was just wondering...

Can I complete the fingerprint myself or do i have to get my fingerprint taken by
the police department in ontario then forward it to US. Bcos I have live in US for
6months before relocating to Ontario. Advice

What do you mean, complete it yourself? The fingerprints are taken either by the police or by a security firm that does that kind of thing (Google Commissionaires, I think they are a firm that provide that service in Canada) and then YOU have to send them to the FBI, they do not send them for you.

then take it to Ontario Police or will I have to let them use there own fingerprint form.

The Ontario Police will likely have their own form, so use that one. I used the form provided by the Police here in Jamaica, and it was not a problem.
