Hi All,
I want to immigrate to canada from US. My spouse and 2 kids would be immigrating with me. My current employer is USA based and also is incorporated in Canada.

Is it possible for me to move to Canada and keep working for my current employer?
If true, whats the process for it? Will that job be LMIA exempt? I am software Engineering Manager.

Eventually, I would like to apply for a PR.

Thanks,
Vinod.

If you want to move to Canada on a work permit first, then your employer will need to be prepared to offer you a job that is based / located in Canada. So if the aim is a work permit first, you can't keep your existing job and move. You would need to shift to a new job located in Canada. Whether an LMIA is required will depend on the occupation and other factors. It's quite possible you'll be able to obtain a work permit without an LMIA, especially if you are American. However they key thing is that the job itself must be based in Canada.

If you want to directly immigrate (without coming to Canada on a work permit first), then you need to qualify and apply for PR through an immigration program like Express Entry or one of the PNP programs.

Yes Please ask your company to file for a Intra company transfer (closed/open work permit). Once its approved you can travel
The above is LMIA exempt
