Hello

I'm US citizen and a Canadian PR, but I spend my summers in the US. What I want to do is buy a car in US and take a trip to Canada for about a week and then drive back to US and sell the car. Its a pleasure car and I don't indent to keep it for long. Will I have any problems entering Canada? will they force me to import the car? anything I can do so I can avoid importing the car? I don't want to pay taxes twice.

Best Regards!

You don't have to import the car if you use it to drive from the border to a particular point in Canada and then back out again, but the car can only stay in Canada for 30 days and you cannot use it for point-to-point travel within Canada. See CBSA memo D2-4-1. Many CBSA officers are unaware of this provision, so come prepared with documents, etc.
