Hello Everyone -

I am new to the forums and would like to introduce myself and ask for other's time frames.

My husband is a Canadian citizen living in Ontario. We have been together for 5 years and married 3 months. We will be submitting the application this August 2014 for spouse sponsorship.

I was curious on what time frames other US citizens experienced?

Any other advice or stories you would like to share are welcome.

Thank you :)

for outland applicants, the first stage for sponsorship eligibility is currently taking 2 months. After that, the file is transferred to OTTAWA for processing. US applicants are processed in OTTAWA, NOT the US. Right now, the second stage is taking anywhere from 1-4 months to process. US applicants from MAY are seeing approvals, so US citizens are getting approved pretty quickly. There is no knowing how long this will last and if it will slow down again in the future.

Definitely join the Ottawa thread so you can be added to the spreadsheet. IF you would like to see the "trends", the spreadsheet is linked in my signature below.

Already in canada on temp work visa... hopefully PR landing soon!
:D :D :D

I haven't written a post yet, but I am an American and my husband is Canadian. We submitted our spousal PR app on August 13, 2014 and my husband was approved as a sponsor on September 19, 2014! Only 37 days from when we submitted it.. much faster than the online processing times say right now (55 days was the most recent update to sponsor approval). Anyways, I wanted to give you an update in case anyone was waiting around like I was, nervous that I would never see an approval or there would be issues with our application with the new August form (which we did not submit- somehow that was overlooked, thank goodness... didn't apply to us anyway since we don't have any dependent children). So, I hope to hear soon for the final passport request and hope they don't need an interview or any other documents as we sent in everything (police reports, medicals, payment, etc) in one package ahead of time. Fingers crossed!!

I can't thank you enough for taking the time to post this. OMG that must have been so exiting to see the SA in only 37 days :) :)... Congratulations!!!! I can't wait to hear about the rest. Could you keep me updated ? I'd love to hear.
