We just moved to Canada after doing our landing back in 2009. We have 2 yr old daughter which was born in US and came with us when we moved to Canada. I and my wife both have PR and live in Toronto, ON.

We want to inland sponsor our USA born child who is currently staying with us in Canada. I am really confused on following:
1. How much is the fee? Is it $75 only or $150 or $550.

2. Where do we send the forms? Mississauga office or Vegreville?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

I believe you're going to need to pay $150 for:

Sponsorship application (per application) - $75
Principal applicant, if less than 22 years of age and not a spouse or common-law partner (including a dependent child of the sponsor, a child to be adopted and an orphaned brother, sister, niece, nephew or grandchild) - $75

I had thought that all inland sponsorship applications go to Vegreville, but if you go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/index.asp and select the option to sponsor other eligible relatives from inside Canada, and then check out the instruction guide (IMM 5196), it says to send it to Mississauga. You could always try calling the CIC and verify over the phone.

Minors cannot be sponsored Inland, only Outland.

It means you have to send the application to CPC-Mississauga, and from there it will go to CPP-Ottawa, which is the current processing office for American citizens.

Thank you Charlie.
Also, just to confirm, fee is $150, right?

Welcome jimmyjimmy :)

You may want to read through the thread at http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/baby-in-canada-on-trp-now-what-is-the-next-step-to-get-pr-t43671.0.html for some additional thoughts. You'll want to add in an explanatory note very carefully explaining why you are eligible for processing as PR parent sponsorship can get tricky and you want to try to have them understand what you want the first time they look at your application.

Good luck :)

Hello OhCanadiana

Thanks for referring to the thread. Unfortunately, after reading that, I am little bit more confused. Just need to know now should I still go with PR parent sponsorship and submit my documents to Mississauga office with explanation letter as you mentioned or I need to select H&C ground with Buffalo office. Please advise and Thanks again.

One more thing that may help, although not with the application: you will want OHIP for your US-born son, and the PR application may take up to 8 months. We are in a similar situation, we are Canadian citizens now but our son was born in the US while we were PR. I actually bought travel insurance for our son before we returned to Canada with him, to make sure he had some sort of coverage. But to our (pleasant) surprise, when we went to Service Canada to get our OHIP cards renewed, they also gave us OHIP for one year for our US-born son, they just needed his US birth certificate. This was in Toronto.

Thank you so much for sharing this. You saved me lot of money. I was thinking of shopping for health insurance over this weekend.

I would apply outland since it is faster and should be feasible, but lay out the situation very clearly (requesting CPP-O processing) in a cover letter to avoid the nightmare of getting your application forwarded between offices.

I have the same case as jimmyjimmy.
any clear picture on how to get PR done for the baby as US citizen?
I should follow instructions for "spouse, partner or dependent child lives outside Canada" and send forms to CPC-M?

I saw someone sent forms for H&C together with sponsor forms to CPC-M for a baby with TRP status in Canada and eventually got PR approved. Do I need to follow that path for my US born baby?

We got our PR for the daughter redondo. We sent it to Mississauga office and then were later referred by them to Ottawa office. If you need help, please contact me at jhnsmee@yahoo.com.
