I have a question I hope someone can help me with... on the USA Appendix A document checklist (Immigrant) #8 Children, it states "If you are divorced or separated, you must include proof that you have custody of the children, that you have fulfilled all obligation in custody agreements, and that the children are free to move to Canada." I don't have custody and he is not going to move to Canada.

Our son is 17, lives with his mother (who has custody) and does not want to accompany us to Canada. We know we must have him examined (he's had the medical, and been appropriately included on all the documents, and noted at non-accompanying), but we don't know what to provide here for "documentation", or do we just write N/A at this point of the checklist?

We would love to hear from someone in the same situation, as to what they with this item on the checklist.

Many thanks in advance!
Annie

Just write N/A. If it is not clear (there's a check box as I recall) from what you have filed elsewhere that he is non-accompanying, include an additional sheet that explains he will not be accompanying.

If he changes his mind, you can sponsor him later (perhaps when he figures out that Canadian college is about 20-40% the cost of US college...)

Thanks computergeek! I've done a ton of research, but it still comes down to these small, but very confusing, details. The help here on these forums is SO valuable...and the moral support is pretty great, too!
