I'm reaching out to this forum for some assistance and advice regarding a pressing issue that I'm currently facing. I'm a prospective graduate student from China who has been admitted to a thesis-based Master's program in Canada and has been offered a full scholarship. However, my study permit application has been processed for over 400 days and I still haven’t received decision from IRCC.
I submitted my application on July 18, 2022, and it has been under security screening since August 1, 2022, with no updates or progress since then. This prolonged delay is causing me significant uncertainty and frustration. Despite my best efforts, including submitting webforms and sending emails to MP and Prime Minister, I have not been able to find a resolution. I've even filed a “writ of mandamus” to Canada Federal Court, but unfortunately, that has not yielded any results either.
What's disheartening is that I'm not the only one facing this situation. Since 2022, a substantial number of Chinese students have been experiencing delays in visa processing due to prolonged security screening. Some unfortunate individuals have been stuck in this predicament for nearly two years, and still haven’t received decision from IRCC, leading to setbacks in their personal and professional goals. With that being said, I humbly request the assistance, guidance, and solidarity of this forum. If anyone has encountered similar challenges or has any insights on navigating through this situation, I would greatly appreciate your advice and shared experiences.
