Urgent: Validity of Canadian Study Visa

I have initially got admission for masters from a university in Quebec for Jan 2019(Winter). I have got CAQ and visa for the same. As the visa was delayed by a couple of weeks, I postponed my admission to Sep 2019(Fall). I have got a new CAQ for the new term as I was suggested.

Do I need a new study visa also? Or can I go on the present visa I have and extend it after going to Canada before March 2021? What other options do I have?

Note:
Present visa is valid from Jan 2019 to March 2021, I want it till Sep 2021.
University, college, and the department are the same for both terms.

I have been contacting immigration services through email, but they are not replying me from last 1 month. Hence, I would like to get a sure answer to this question.

You can enter on this valid visa and extend it once you're in Canada. You don't really need to extend it - your study permit grants you status. You only need to extend it if you expect to be traveling between Mar - Sep 2021.

You can extend it one month before it expires, so in Feb 2021.

A TRV is what you'd call a visa - it's what allows you to travel to Canada and ask to be admitted. It's the sticker in your passport.

For students, your Study Permit is what grants you status. You need a TRV to come to a Port of Entry, and then the CBSA officer will look at your Study Permit and allow you in unless he feels that you're somehow not a real student (this is obviously highly unlikely). The second you are allowed into the country, your study permit becomes the document that grants you legal status.

You can have an expired TRV, but as long as your study permit is valid, you are allowed to stay in Canada. However, if you leave the country, you will need a valid TRV to reenter.

As the holder of a valid Study Permit, you are allowed to apply for a TRV from within Canada.

For tourists, you get legal status when the CBSA admits you - merely having the TRV doesn't mean that you will be allowed into the country. A tourist visa is usually valid for many years, but that doesn't mean that you can stay for years on a tourist visa. The CBSA office will allow you to stay for a maximum of six months - he may in fact stamp your passport and say you are allowed for 7 days. The TRV is still valid, but your status is governed by the stamp in your passport.

So study permit is just like visitor record ( i have got it once when i travelled to montreal shortly)

The expiry date of your study permit is written on your study permit.

As far as I know you need to get a study permit before you travel. See here -> https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit.html

However, I'm not super familiar with Quebec's rules. I looked at this -> https://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.../students/obtaining-authorizations/index.html

And it's clear that you need both a CAQ as well as a study permit from the Government of Canada.

You really should contact your college and ask them to help clarify this for you. You've got plenty of time and they will be able to give you the correct information.

BTW, do you have a US Green Card?

If you are an American citizen or a permanent resident of the United States, if you are a Danish citizen who resides in Greenland or a French citizen who resides in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, you can obtain your study permit from the Government of Canada on your arrival at your point of entry.

No, I don't have a US Green Card, I am an Indian citizen.

Below is mentioned in my visa correspondence letter:

Your application to study in Canada has been approved. A permit authorizing your studies will be issued to you on your arrival to Canada following an examination by an officer of the Canada Border Services Agency, subject to your compliance with the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and its Regulations. The officer will ask to see this letter, your passport and may request to see your supporting documents, such as the letter of acceptance from your educational institution. Do not pack these or other valuable papers in your checked luggage. You can find out more about which documents you will need to bring with you by visiting xyz site.

You must seek entry to Canada to obtain your study permit by March 2021.
