Hi ,

Sorry for reposting but i have a question .I just noticed that feb 29 will not be counted . so basically i will be meeting the basic residancy requirement
by july 22 2013 . But since i travelled to usa for 11 days it will be Aug 2 the day i will meet basic residancy.

I have signed on Aug 5 ,will this day also be counted ?But also in my application i have mentioned the 5 days that i travelled to usa and came back but mentioned as "zero" days when i counted in the residancy form. As per the website we need not mention these same day visits .

Please suggest !!!!

You have to meet 1095 days a day before you sign the application. In your case, it is Aug 04. If you meet 1095 days of physical presence on or before Aug 04, then you are fine.

Thanks Rajmalhora it was useful. I took back my application from courier dispatch since i do not wanted to take chance.

I will wait for few more days before i can apply.

Thanks,
Pradeep.

Hello Pradeep,

If you will be staying in Canada a while longer, it will probably be preferable to wait before applying. People who are very close to 1095 days are more likely to have problems. For example, if CIC disputes that you were in Canada during a 10-day period three years ago, because they say you don't have proof, then your whole application can fail because of that.

Personally, I would wait to be at 1150 or 1200 days before applying, if possible.

Well waiting 100 days over the requirement is a little too much of a wait....

I would say if you are sure about your exits and entries, have boarding passes, pay slips, then having cushion days are enough..Say 1120 days or so.....

Dont think the more room you have the less likelyhood of getting RQ

I signed my application on my 1096th day in Canada. Never had an RQ. My citizenship process was smooth.

pkakula, there may indeed by a problem with February 29th being incorrectly calculated, but it seems to be only the case if you were away on that day. If you were in the country on February 29th 2012, then you have nothing to worry about. So, if the residence calculator tells you you were eligible to apply, then you are fine.
