URGENT! STUDENT PERMIT DELAY

I’m an international student starting Interdisciplinary Studies in Human Centred Design Co-op program in Algonquin College for Fall 2021. I have not yet received my study permit and I am really concerned about the timeline. I applied for my student visa on May 10th -after I got my acceptance and before the deadline of the student visa application for fall semester. I was asked to update my acceptance letter in the system in June which I did immediately. However IRCC did not get my document.

In case my permit does not arrive due to circumstances beyond my control, what would be the process? I was told by the International education Centre that I have to withdraw after ten days if my permit does not arrive on time. I have no exceptional circumstances, I submitted all my applications on time, and my finances are in good state so I am not expecting any further delays than caused by IRCC's own delays. In case the permit does not arrive on time, is there a contingency procedure for people like me?

Thank you very much,

You can send IRCC a letter explaining that you will be withdrawn from the college and therefore not able to start your studies. I'd give them a call first.

I don't think there is other option given that you were given 10days to withdraw by your College. And if you did not do upfront medical exam, then you can go ahead to withdraw. Unfortunately there is other contingency, lots of students are on the same boat
