Urgent ~ Spouse OWP or Visitor Extension

I'm currently on PGWP, and my wife got a visitor visa for 5 years.
In September we applied for PR under the FSW stream, medical passed, and currently waiting for background check.
My question is that my wife has stayed now for almost 5 months with me here in Canada, should she apply for visitor visa extension now (application should be submitted 30 days before expiry) or it is better to apply for SOWP while we are waiting for our PR application ?

You need a skilled job and 3 payslips for her to qualify for a work permit. Other than that, this is a personal choice.

Thank you for your help! I guess I will apply for the visitor record since we already submitted the PR application and waiting for the decision.
