Hi All -

My spouse medical examination resulted in trace of blood in urine. What impact is it going to have on our PR application ? Please suggest.

Thanks !

Is the spouse male/female?

A second microscopy test should have been performed. Did it come back "normal?"

Indeed - if female that is considered 'normal'. Additional tests should have been done to determine where the blood has come from.

Yes, spouse is female. They did additional blood and urine culture test which looked ok.. Not sure, if doctor gets to report that or if CIC is going to request additional tests ?

You/she should be fine. Check this for reference. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/partner/pp/pdf/IMEI_Urinanalysis.pdf

Thanks !

Doctor said its a trace of blood, is that 1+ on dipstick count or not even that?

This is what I found on wikipedia, not sure if this is correct ...

---

Reagent strip tests can detect concentrations as low as five red blood cells per microliter; however, care must be taken when comparing these figures with the actual microscopic values, because the absorbent nature of the pad attracts some of urine. The terms trace, small, moderate, and large or trace, 1+, 2+, and 3+ are used for reporting.

Don't even consult Wiki for this-it'll likely only confuse you. A trace that small for a female's urine should not be a problem (provided the second test returned "normal" of course).

Indeed. It's the days women DONT have blood coming out of them that you have to worry ;)

I know I might be a bit late but there was also blood in my urine. Higher than in your spouse's. My readings were ++++ and ++ for the retest. I told the doctor to send the results to CIC which she did (from a family of doctors and knew nothing was wrong). CIC requested that I do a serum creatinine test which was normal. My meds were passed 3 days after submitting my application. Good luck!

Hey, I had 2+ protein and microscopical blood (trace) in my urine in a test with my own private doctor. I did a serum creatinine and it was normal!

Is this enough? :(

I had blood in urine. And everyone who went to my doctor had blood in urine! Moral of the story? Let CIC check the results and get back to you. Or get yourself checked from a lab externally.

I have the same case but they did not tell me to take a repeat test but told me to go to a family doctor, should I get the test taken from a doctor before e-APR or wait till CIC demands it ??
