has your relative got anything to do with you?? what i know you get 5 points if you have a relative living in canada. he is not supposed to provide you accomodation / any financial support. am i right guys??

my brother is living in canada and he is currently studying there. he was working before but now he is a full time student. i am claimimg 5 points for that. does it affect my application in any way??

this is confusing . can some body explain if he or she knows?? thanks

If you can then avoid claiming points, as it takes more time in checking the claim. If you hv no option but claim points then ensure he is not on social support or in any debt like OSAP Loan and has a regular job for past one year. Otherwise it gives the VO a chance to deny u'r application.

You can claim 5 points. But in these days when VO is denying at every little opportunity you better have good POF proof and source of the POF ready when you send full docs. Still they can deny on ground of "NOT IN A POSITION TO SUBSTANTIALLY ASSIST THE PA ECONOMICAL ESTABLISHMENT".

dear i have good proof of funds and i sent that when i sent full docs. but still i am not able to understand whats the logic of giving 5 points when you have a relative in canada. what are the reasons that they give you 5 points when you have a relative in canada.???

surely he is not gonna support us thats why they ask us to send our own POF??? and when we are sending our own POF then its got nothing to do if our relative is working there or on social support or whatever???

This is what i can say, the 5 points is for Adaptability. Thus it indicates your status of how capable of adapting you can be. So if you'r relatives is not in good shape to help u (could be accommodation, could be in an emergency) then u r not eligible to claim points. This is the basic way of their response.

I am not an expert, but I have to agree with Idas' statement. It isn't just that you know a person living in Canada. Is your brother on a temporary study/work permit or actually PR, as I think he would have to be a PR to even consider him for points. The fact he is not working full time, has a loan, etc. VO would not be likely to think he would be able to assist you in adapting. Without the 5 points do you still make 67? If you DO, then I would include your brother in your points but write a cover letter acknowledging that he is getting himself established and you have sufficient points (x number) and POF (amount) to meet the FSW requirements on your own merit. If you NEED HIS 5 POINTS, you must find documentation from your brother to prove he is living in Canada and proof of a steady income now that he is finished studying or they may not allow you the 5 points for adaptability. Bottom line, you can't use his 5 points if he doesn't fit the criteria of being able to assist you with adapting to Canadian life, whether YOU need it or not. Hope this makes sense. Good Luck.

arlnr,

I will write about your case in a few hours.

Pitta,

your brother is not a PR or citizen yet so according to the law you are not gonna get the 5 points.

i will ge 5 points man. my brother is a permanant resident of canada and he recived his prr in 2003. i have provided his pr card, tax documents, bank statements, job proof and everything. i know the procedure.

i only got confused with idas comments and this guy arlnr caips notes. i think arnlr did not provide enough POF in first place thats why visa office relied on his uncle who unfortunately on benefits in canada so they doubted his economical conditions once in canada.

pitta

you will get the 5 points. I thought your bro was still a student.
a few more hours for me to comment on arlnr's case. I still believe that through the Interview he would be tested and I know arlnr has got the ability to pass such interviews.

arlnr,

3 things they were not fully satisfied but you are lucky that you have been called on an interview to demonstrate and display your defense.

1. Family members, 5 persons, and you have shown $50,000. they would not ask anything if you had shown 70-80K. They know that most people dont take the full amount of PoF with them when they 1st travel to Canada as PR. so they now want if that money is solely yours and the amount has gone up or not. if its yours then there should be some interest from that amount by now.

2. CIC has no right to deny your visa whether or not your uncle is a beggar or a Billionaire in Canada. The thing is they dont want anyone to get mingled with a person who has a social aid application experience. this is more like a Psychological guess that a mugger would normally ask his nephew to try his profession 1st before the nephew could try something else. the situation is still hypothetical.

3. 4131's need good English proficiencies so they'd generally ask for more scores. Send your updated scores now, I saw someone said it would not help- This person is surely misguiding you. I am strongly saying sending new and good score will do the trick and eliminate the confusion about your English quality.

4. Employment - as they think you have lower IELTS score for 4131 and you will be battling with your family of 5 persons for survival with lower PoF in Canada, youd not be able to get jobs during this recession. to me this thinking does not make any sense. I think 4131's will not necessarily look for 4131 jobs in Canada.

Just make your mind for the interview. In a nutshell, they will test 3 things in the Interview:

Your English skills through conversation.
your Funds' Genuineness.
Your Educational papers.

Jonathan

arlnr

omg, what the hell are you thinking?????? Why not?
Send the latest score immediately, Now, at once. its the better one.

tell the VO that you are the only inheritor of that money you took from your parents. and you will take this Fund with you in Canada, spend it in Canada and wont bring a single cent back to Bangladesh.

Yah, send the latest bank statement as well.

I'd not send them if I had already received the Interview letter as I'd show these news scores and stuffs during the Interview.

OK fine
I am on it now and lets see whats the outcome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
