Hi guys so I am a pr in Canada for a year now and I want to visit USA , I am
Confused as to what to do, I need a b2 visa right ? I am
Planning a trip to Ghana soon and having a USA visa will make
It easier for me to not only visit but also to
Transit .. Are interviews done over the phone ? The nearest place for me
To have an interview is winnipeg and it seems they don't conduct interviews anywhere close to me .. I don't want to apply and not able
To travel to Toronto or Ottawa for interview.. Any suggestions ? Ideas ? Have any permanent residents gone through this process with the American embassy here in Canada ?

Please disregard this post. Incorrect information.

If you have Canadian PR, you are US visa exempt. Show your passport and PR card at the border.

I thought it only canadian citizens who are exempt ? Lots of people I know around here say I am exempt but my home country (Ghana) is not exempt so am
So confused ..

This is 100% wrong information. Having Canadian PR does NOT make one visa-exempt to the US. If you don't hold a passport that is visa-exempt to the US, you must apply for and get a proper travel visa from the USA before you go.

My apologies. It seems I was completely misinformed. I have heard from countless people that if you have US permanent residency, you do not need visa to travel to Canada. So I was assuming the opposite was also true.

I will delete my earlier post to remove the misinformation.

that's what I found base on my research .. I just can't find anything on interviews and if I will be interviewed and if I can have it closer to me . All the USA embassies are so far from me .thank you.. Do you have any idea ? I spend two hours waiting on the phone to talk to someone .. They are always busy

thats fine ..lots of people who are citizens told me the same lol .. I know it wrong info .. I just don't know how to go around the interview stuff coz the nearest interview at least a 15 hours drive away from me ..

As far as I know, you can't get around the interview requirement for a US visa. They interview everyone.

yeah that's what it seem..I guess I am gonna give up and find a flight that does not go through USA .. Because it will cost close to 1000 dollars for a flight to attend an interview plus I may granted just a single entry .. So maybe am gonna work on getting that when I return from my trip to Ghana so that I can at least visit with my family ..thank you guys .. Still open to ideas and suggestions if any

yes everyone is right, you have to go for an interview in the us embassy, they do not take the interview on phone and interview is must for everyone but it take only 10or 15min long.
