Hi,

I will shortly be undergoing medical test for express entry for Canadian PR. I would like to know significance of eye check-up in the medical examination since I have visual acuity of 6/12 (sometimes 6/15) in my right eye. I have low vision in my left eye since childhood due to congenital glaucoma. I cannot read letters on acuity chart through my left eye due to low vision.

Would like to know that can this hamper my prospects of getting PR?

I do not have any other health related conditions.

*Note: My current CRS score is 470.

doesn't matter, i have 7 degrees of myopia in both eyes and my husband has 40% vision loss in one eye. The eye test is the regular one where you read letters off of the board, you'll do it wearing your glasses/contact lenses (not eye by eye)

Hi Hamgha. Thanks a lot for your response. The problem is that I can't read any letter on the board with my left eye since vision field in that eye is very limited (around 10%-15%) since childhood due to glaucoma.
So, will there be any test wherein one is supposed to read through both eyes individually one by one?
I had cousin who recently went for medical exam in India for her student visa and was asked to read letter with both eyes separately.

Well in our case she didn't get to the very small letters just the main one. But you can research that situation more. Let the doctor now, we were very transparent. It shouldn't be an issue unless you require really expensive treatment

Thanks a lot. I was also thinking of telling doctor about complete medical history if asked (in case of not being able to read letters through left eye).
I don't require any medication for the same. Also generally, all treatments related to eye diseases are not very expensive.
