Problem: I am ready to apply under CEC class but I do not have my Birth Certificate.

Background: I have read in this forum about Certificate of Birth from CGI Toronto being accepted as an alternate but I did not get 100% "Yes".

Alternate documents: 1) Certificate of Birth from Consular General of India (Toronto) as an alternate to BC.

2) Plus, if I go to any new lawyer here (in Canada) and make an affidavit infront of them and attach.

Confirmation required: Can anyone confirm if the above two documents are being accepted (100%) these days by CIC now? (I heard till last year CIC was accepting them).

Appreciate a quick response.

thanks,

Hi gg08,

I filed my application in Jan 2012. I too do not have a birth cert. So, I've used the Certificate of birth given by CGI(consulate general of india) and additionally I have attached my SSC(Secondary School certificate) as a proof of date of birth. CIC has accepted my application. You may try this option.

If you do not want to take risk, you can try getting a birth certificate from your MRO(Mandal Registrar Office) in India (or) Affidavit from a lawyer in India stating your date of birth and your parents' name.

Hope this helps. Good luck with your application!

Urgent help/confirmation required -

1) I have found my original Birth certificate but there is no name on it. (its blank)
2) I also have my 10th certificate which has my date of birth.

Will the above 2 documents be sufficient for my CEC application ??
OR
do I need to get a "certificate of birth" from CGI Toronto and also get an affidevit made from a lawyer here in Canada?

Pls advise.

appreciate a quick response.

thanks,
gg

You definitely cannot use your birth certificate(blank name) along with 10/12th certificates as your educational certificates does not include surname along with mother's name to prove it is really you, I would personally not submit a certificate with out my name on it.

You could do as torap did, in his case it is straight forward, his name is on both certificates, some of my friends also have the same problem
If you go for affidavit plus cgi certificate of birth that would be ideally best option

thanks Mnjdev.

To clarify, you suggesting to submit - my BC (without name), 10th certificate, certificate of birth (from CGI) and an afffidavit. - i.e. all 4 documents
OR
ONLY 3 docs - 10th certificate, certificate of birth (from CGI) and an afffidavit?

Submit 10th and 12th with affidavit or 10th and 12th with cgi certificate of birth, all 3 is not required
I would not recommend to submit that birth certificate with out name, I have seen those with just a hyphen/- in the place of name
