How long does it usually take for IRCC to respond to the UP request sent via web form?
I recently got a job invitation that requires Canadian citizenship, sent the web form two weeks ago but haven't received any update nor email.

Same here ... I have been waiting for over 1 week now for a reply from them.

They don't respond in all cases AFAIK. In my case, they called me to confirm if I will be available on Aug 23rd for oath and then they approved my application. Generally, you'll see things progress quickly (depending on where you are in the process).

Once you receive a webform response that says your UP request was sent to the office, wait a couple of days and call IRCC. Ask them if your UP request was approved and they'll be able to tell you.

Same here guys! I asked for UP as well last week and yet no confirmation. Called IRCC this morning and they said still the request is not there. The most annoying thing is that the agent told me they are working on reduced staff due to covid. This is somewhat insulating since they think because we have’t become a citizen we are not living in this country. We are working in the same country and delivering our work without any delays even during the pandemic. We could easly adapt to remote working in a couple of weeks! Agents are working online and there is no reason that IRCC works with reduced staff especially when they are having such a large backlog and promising they accept more. Shouldn’t they hire more staff rather than working with reduced staff? We should’t hear such baseless excuse anymore as it’s somewhat insulting. I am trying to reach out my mp agin regarding this issue and lack of transparency. I am still waiting for the test after 16 months!!!

I sent an UP request with letters and all supporting document and I received this message today. What is going on?? Why they did not forward this to the processing office?

Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

We can process applications for citizenship urgently in some cases.

If you feel that your situation may be considered urgent, we invite you to choose the type of application you would like to have processed urgently and follow the instructions.

An officer will evaluate your request and determine if the application can be processed on an urgent basis.

*If you have already submitted an application for a search of the citizenship records or to renounce Canadian citizenship and now need urgent processing, when filling out the Web form, please:

  • Select:
    • Citizenship from the drop down menu under Type of application/enquiry, and
    • Citizenship - Grant from the drop down menu under Type of application/enquiry (continued),
  • Include a detailed description of the required updates in the free-text box located under Your enquiry.
We hope the information provided is helpful in assisting you with your enquiry.

Did you make sure to meet the maximum document sizes when attaching documents to the webform request?

This is very weird. I received an appropriate response and it looked like this :

I did not receive any error while uploading the document. This is super frustrating and unacceptable.

What exactly did you write in the body of the request? Did you say "Requesting Urgent Processing for my Citizenship Grant application" or something on those lines?

I wrote something similar in BOLD letters to get their attention.

Yes, I have attached a cover letter clearly stating the request and all supporting documents. The file size was 1.9 mb. In the text box also the first line was request for urgent processing. I am calling IRCC now, this is ridiculous.

Haha! Just talked with IRCC: unfortunately the agent has not put even a note in the webform, so please send us your request again!!!

I'm sorry. Mark the request as "URGENT" and write "REQUESTING URGENT PROCESSING FOR CITIZENSHIP GRANT APPLICATION" as the first sentence in the body of the request.

Good luck.

My wife received the invitation for test email today.
The weird thing is at the end of the document, they have requested her passport copies for the past 5 years.
Is this normal to request passport copies with the invitation to do the test?

processing office: Hamilton

Usually people are getting 1 or 2 months after the test. May be this is the new process to speed it up?

Today, I finally heard back regarding my webform request for UP.

I got a similar reply and they sent my request to the Windsor office. I'm planning to call them first thing on Friday morning to check the status of my UP request.

I've seen this type of request for some applicants already in the past week. Test invite + PP pages request. This is becoming more common (and the norm?)
