Hello there

This is my very post in this forum and previously I was only limited to the government owned settlement.org forum and some how I feel that its a very controlled and restricted forum.

My situation:

I got my PR in early 2006, came to Canada and in first week I had a job interview and the employer wanted to find someone to manage his establishment in my home country - The company's lawyer assured me that since I am a Landed Immigrant so by Law my time spent outside of Canada while working for a Canadian employer would be counted equivalent to the time spent in Canada so on this I happily took the job and after few days went back.

I worked for the same employer for 18 months while being in my country, after that in following two and a half years I worked for two other Canadian employers (12 months for first employer and then 6 months for second) while managing their establishments in my home country so I was roughly having 3 years of employment status while paying Canadian taxes.

Finally I moved to Canada in late 2009, tried very hard to get some reasonable job though didnt had any suck luck so after 6 months I went back and now finally in Mid March 2011 I entered in Canada just a week before my PR Card expiry date though due to some work related to issues I was suppose to leave early so on urgent grounds I applied for my PR Card Renewal in late March and according to the cic website the process started in late March.

>>> Roughly 3 years spent out side of Canada while working as a Landed Immigrant for a Canadian Employer and then another 6 months spent in Canada.

> In first 15 days the PR Card people contacted me by phone because on the Urgent Proof of Travel Document (Ticket Bill) didnt had the issuing country name (if the ticket issuing travel agency isnt bothered to have the name of the country where they are operating then its definitely not my fault or concern and neither it should be of the PR renewal people) so in reply I faxed them the weblinks of Government Websites that showed that the particular travel agency is registered and approved officially etc. Please note that I contacted the travel agency for the help but they refused.

Now it has been over 4 months and now yesterday I got a letter PR people that my case is now moved to the regional office in Toronto for further processing and it may result in further delay.

I swear to God that I am having depression attacks due to all this delay and I really dont know what to do.

Can any body please help me by guiding me about what shall I do?

Also is there a fax number or email address of Toronto PR Card Renewal office on which I can directly contact them?

Please help me.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
If they had approved your PR card, they would have sent you a letter stating that you could come pick it up at the Toronto office so I think it is likely that you are getting a residency questionnaire where they will call you in and decide if you get to keep your PR or not.

It is true that your PR is protected if you are working for a Canadian employer in another country but they are particular about who they accept as a Canadian employer and they also prefer that you were already working for the Canadian employer in Canada and they transferred you to another country. This could be true for your first job but not for the 2nd and 3rd.

When you get called for this interview, you should be prepared with the information about these employers, if they are actually Canadian owned etc. as well as your tax records if you were being paid in Canada. I am sure immigration is doing their own research right now and they may already have what you have when you show up but if not, it can help your case.

Thanks Mr. Leon I really appreciate your reply.

Being honest with you the reason for applying for the urgent renewal has been killed and now I just want to go back and spend the holly month of ramadan with my family though honest and yes I am very scared about decision regarding PR card, I dont know what to do now. I always wanted to make Canada as my home but lots of matters kept me back and now when things are getting better for me then I am stuck in a situation where I may (God forbid) lose the PR.

Beside the interview preparations can you please suggest few things that can help me big time in this matter?

Also can you provide me with the fax number or phone number or email of the Toronto office on which I can directly contact them???

Other than that, you can talk to a lawyer or you can talk to an MP, sometimes they can make inquiries and push their weight around a bit if they feel like it.

I do not know how to find the phone or fax numbers for the local offices and I have tried sometimes but if you know their location, you can go there or you can mail them.

Wife's PR card bound to be revoked

Hi Everyone!

I am writing on behalf of my wife who at this point in time is so depressed and worried.

Here's the situation. My wife holds a PR card which will expire next month. We are now here in Canada to renew her PR. Prior to our marriage, my wife was religiously coming to Canada pay her taxes until the time she sets up her own company in 2008, she didn't visit Canada.

To be honest, my wife didn't have any plans to renew her PR card because marrying was not part of her plan until we got married. I have known her for more than 15 years already! I didn't even know that she is a PR of Canada until she told me. We discussed the matter thoroughly about her PR status and we came into consensus that we will move to Canada and start our new life here, sell our assets and put up our own business here.

By the way, I forgot to tell you that we are here now and just arrived yesterday to renew her PR card. Upon arrival, we were asked by the immigration officer to go to the second screening and there my wife was told that she will lose her PR card which will expire next month.

What shall we do? Is her busyness in her because could be an excuse for not religiously coming to Canada as stated in the rules and regulation? Is the Canadian government really that strict and legalistic that one has to follow to the letter the R&R in having a Canadian PR card.

We plan to go to the immigration tomorrow to renew her PR card. What is the chance of renewing her PR card. Will she have a chance to renew her PR card? I told her that we will be honest. The reason why she wants to renew her PR card is to start our life together here in Canada.

I will appreciate feedback from the other members of this forum. Thank you so much!

Cheers!
