You will be applying for an OWP so you will be able to work as well. It's ok if they think your wife will be supporting you too. And it's good to show you have funds of your own as well.

Yes, if I were in your shoes, I would show proof of your wife's pregnancy.

Now i need help in furnishing a cover or a submission letter for the case..what all should i write in the cover letter?? what all other documents do i need to attach for this kind of application?

and what all do i need to fill in the open work permit application??is it the same application as for the work permit??what all do i fill in the information asked?? for ex:where it's required to fill in job details,etc...
