Hi All,

I got invitation under CEC and I am in Canada but my wife and baby boy are outside of the country and we are all applying together for PR. I am using a representative for this application and this representative is suggesting that I show proof of funds which involves special bank letter which should meet the following CEC requirements.

What we accept as proof
Letter(s) must:
  • be printed on the financial institution’s letterhead
  • include their contact information (address, telephone number and email address)
  • include your name
  • list outstanding debts such as credit card debts and loans
  • include, for each current bank and investment account:
    • account numbers
    • the date each account was opened
    • the current balance of each account
    • the average balance for the past six months
The bank is refusing to give me this letter as I have tried my very best without success and this is causing delay to my application as i have all other documents complete and ready for application. I am aware that I don't have to show Proof of Funds under CEC. Please i need your advise and opinion on my situation as the delay is driving me crazy. what action do you advise me to take?

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
If you are aware that you need not show POF under the CEC program then why are you listening to your representative?

The representative is the one making the application on my behalf. the rep says since i have a baby, showing pof will help to convince cic. but i have read threads on here and it says under cec you don't have to show pof. i decided to use representative because my wife has been denied previously for canadian visiting visa previously.

i guess i inform the rep to apply without pof and write a lette of explanation that i am applying under cec and i am exempt from showing pof. i just wanted to get a second opinion and advise as i have been following the threads here regarding this issue.

I am pretty sure it would even be considered illegal for CIC to make a distinction between applicants (e.g. having a baby) and reject an application by applying different standards, unless it is explicitly mentioned on Canada.ca that they can.
