Hello Seniors,

I got passport request on Nov-14-12. Mail has February 04, 2013 Date to enter Canada. This is my medicals expiry date.

I am in US on H1 and my H1 expires next month and I have to apply for extension. This is short period for me to settle everything here and move permanently to Canda. Please Advice If I can request extension of the date to enter Canada or any other suggestion please...........

PPR Mail:
"On receipt of your passport(s), your permanent resident visa(s) will be valid until February 04, 2013 or your passport expiration date, whichever is shorter. Please note that this is the date on or before which you and all of your accompanying dependents must present your immigrant visa(s) to a Canadian immigration officer at a port-of-entry into Canada to become a permanent resident."

The immigrant visa placed in your passport has an expiry date. You may enter Canada any time before the expiry date. The expiry date cannot be extended. If you fail to enter Canada before this date and still wish to immigrate to Canada, you must reapply by submitting a new application and paying a new processing fee. There is no guarantee a future application would be successful.

Hi nanadel

I am in same situation,my passport was requested on oct 30,so far hasnt send my passport yet.I am in h1b in us.How you know february 04 2013 to enter canada.Did they mentioned in email?Did you got passport request in email or mail?

thank you
soop

The email is self explanatory. You have to enter Canada before your visa expiration. I don't know why you ask such question. Many people are disparate waiting for there visa and you saying you need to delay!!!

Any way, you can enter Canada stay a while (week or two) then go back to US. The only thing you should aware of you need your PR card to renter. The PR card need about 60 days from your first entry to reach you. If you have friend here in Canada, you can give him/here address. Your friend can mail your card to you in US. This is my understanding. Please confirm from others.
Best,

I got my passport request in email.

Feb 04,2013 is in that email.

I am also desperate for the VISA but timing is the problem ....My H1 expires in Dec and I can not enter us back without getting H1 extended and visa stamped. I have some other things I need to take care before I move permanently.

It is impossible to extend the landing date on your visa. You must either land by the date stated in your visa or apply again for PR from the beginning. There are no other choices. Use it or lose it.

You don't have to move to Canada immediately. You can land in Canada - and then leave and move to Canada at a later date. However you must land in Canada before the expiry date on your visa.
