URGENT!!!! PGWP Refusal

I have completed the 2 years Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Western University, Canada, ON,

I applied for work permit last month and got the rejection today.

The rejection letter says following:-
Foreign students in Canada are eligible for a work permit for post-graduation employment only if
they have engaged in full-time studies for at least eight months at a:
 University, community college, CEGEP,
 publicly funded trade/technical school or
 private institution authorized by provincial statute to confer degrees
As you do not meet this requirement, it has been determined that you are not eligible for a work
permit in this category.

But I have provided them with completion letter from the university stating all these conditions along with my transcript. It states that I have successfully completed all the requirements, it was 2 years graduate course, and obviously, Western University is a recognized institute at least last I knew. All my other friends from same course and timeline have got the permit.

I have double checked everything i applied with everything is straightforward. This seems like a careless processing of the application to me.
Anything you guys can suggest on the issue, please.

Hi Janmeet singh,
i have almost same situation....

I have applied for my PGWP along with my wife's visitor extension online on April 28,2016. i didn't get response till month so i request case specific inquiry but after 10 days i didn't get any response from CIC. so i called today CIC call center agents and he checked online and said my application for pgwp refused. but in myCIC account it still shows open. My study permit expires on June 30,2016.

what should i do now? can i re-apply for PGWP because i still have valid study permit? My university issued letter of completion of study on April 5,2016 & graduation date mentioned in letter was May 25,2016. please reply.

You should reconfirm the status of your application and ask the customer service about you online application status being open.

If they are sure that your application is refused you can ask for the reason it states and clarify the situation. They can not reject the permit if you meet all the requirements. They may ask for additional documents and maybe the degree if you have. Provide them with everything you have to clarify this. Ask them if you should reapply or provide additional information. If you have to reapply please appoint a lawyer or representative (it would be worth it considering the tight timeline you have)

If they said your application is still in process, reconfirm that too and ask them about the previous information they provided about being refused. If it is still in the process you should wait because it takes 2 to 4 months for a permit to be processed. Usually, rejection comes in only 2 weeks after application.

I have seen such cases and it is usually some documentation mismatch. Don't worry act calm and go through the process. Consult experts if you can.

Janmeet Singh, did you call CIC? Western University is on Designated learning institutions list.
Yes, I called them they said they rejected me because I was a part-time student. But I was full time, even completed 2 years course in 1 year. The representative noted my request and they might reconsider my file. I asked her to add a note or anything if they can that I can provide additional documents to prove that I was a full-time student. If they ask me I will provide this information.

If they still refuse I will reapply with all the additional documents whichever I can provide. I really hope it gets resolved without reapplying otherwise it is a waste of time and money.

It is weird that none of my colleagues faced any problem they had the same case and provided the same document provided by university (university call this letter official western letter for post-graduation work permit

The staff should at Western should be able to help you they must have immigration specialist on staff. Was any of your program offered through online learning. Sometimes this has been problematic with CIC in the past. If not then I would very quickly resubmit your verification documents to CIC tell them you kindly request a reconsideration of your file. You should have done this the same day you called. Speak with an international counselor at Western or someone in your program to see if you sent the proper letters. You can order notes concerning your case from CIC.

It does not seem to make sense if it is as you say and your friends were approved. Imagine its either simply an error in assessment, an unrealized error on your part in terms of documentation, or if the program was offered online, then I have heard of refusals concerning that in the past.

Check carefully and get into the Western International Office they cant give legal advice but can help u maybe understand what went wrong. So obviously Western is a fully accredited public university. So it must be something to do with times.

How did you complete a two year program in one year did you transfer credits.

How much in class degree related time did you spend at Western.

Did any portion of your education occur online if so how much.

Check out about appeals I am not sure if they will accept but worth a try if not unfortunately you may have to reapply.

Were you promised by the university that your program as you studied it was eligible for the PGWP.

What are the differences between you and your friends application.

Okay take care and think about these questions.

I attached the official transcript and I confirmed the university they said there should be no problem with your case. The number of courses is 10 as per course requirements and it is based on your potential that you can complete your degree in one year.

Each and every friend of mine with the same case ended up with 3 yr work permit.

I called the CIC they said you were rejected for being a part-time student.

Maybe CIC is hiring uneducated or untrained people nowadays because MY OFFICIAL LETTER SAYS FULL-TIME STUDENT AND I ATTACHED TRANSCRIPT.
I mean come on the letter is only one page which is clearly printed and high-quality scan.

If not this, my transcript says it all too. Can't they notice the credits and hours written on the transcript.

You should consult with you International Students Adviser at the university. They should write you a detailed letter explain int to those at CIC why you were a FULL TIME student and not a part time.
