Urgent Passport Request - Where to send it?

Hi everyone,

I applied for my Temporary resident visa + study permit in the United States on May 27. Yesterday I received a request to send my passport along with any applicable fee.

I read in this forum that I may send it to a CGC without paying any fee at all. Is it true or I must send it to a VAC?

Anyone who has updated information on this matter please HELP!

I think you have to send it to the (C)VAC. They will forward it further to CGC.

Here http://www.cic.gc.ca/submit-envoyer/offices-bureaux-eng.asp it is said:

For holders of diplomatic or official passports ONLY – send your passport(s) to:

EAPP
Consulate General of Canada
Immigration Section
550 South Hope Street, 9th Floor
Los Angeles, CA 90071

So, I believe for non diplomatic or official we must use VACs.

I won't take the chance to send it directly to CGC.

Last week (July 25) I went in person to NYC VAC office to submit my passport. In my understanding you would have to go through VAC unless its diplomat or other special type of passport. You can call VAC and clarify the doubt at Phone Number: (646) 741- 0130
