urgent on the wp status

Hi,

My work permit is expiring on 28th Jan and i have applied for the new wp. I have question in case if doesnt receive the wp before my expiration..Can i work for the same employer under restoration status ? .And i have my daughter as a dependent and she is going to the elementary school..Will she continue her school when i am on the resortation status till i receive the new wp?.

Please need your help at the earliest...

If you already applied for a new WP, you will be under implied status until decision will be made on your new permit. It means you can continue working for the same employer under the same conditions. There is no need for restoration, it is only for those whose permit already expired and they wish to submit an extention or a new WP application within 90 days of the expiry date. You do not need to do anything, just wait the decision and continue your work. Hopefully this will ease your mind! Also your daughter can continue her studies. The drawback is- your health coverage expires on the same date as your WP and you can only get a new one once your new WP arrives. Until then you need to pay for any medical, so for your daughter`s.

If you have applied for the new WP you will have "implied Status" and can carry on as normal until you get a decision on your new permit. My WP expired in August 2010 and I applied for an extension in June 2010, but because of the wait times, my new one did not arrive until September 2010. I was able to continue working as normal until the new permit arrived.

Thanks for your response.I called the Call center agent..They said that they recieved my application and they in process of deciding it.In case if i dont hear back from them before apr 28 2011 then they asked me to call them..This means are positive or negative..

Hi Rebecca,

Did you have a new LMO before you applied for your work permit extension?. I am currently on the same page as you do.

My WP will expire on May 2011. I applied for my PR and got the AOR from NS just Dec 17,2010. STill I believed I have to renew my WP and by doing so, I believed I need to have a new LMO from my current employer.

I also had a wife who is on OWP and kids on student permits, I guess I can have them all filed in one form (Did you do the same?).

Let me know if you have done so, that I may ask some advice from you.

Or any expert advice would be much appreciated

hi there my work permit expired last dec 6 and i already applied for the new 1 last december 1 thru online application until now there is no result yet.

1. do i need to apply my restoration again or wait for the result
2. how do i know that my application thru online is recieved?

Yes. Probably will take 47 days as per cic website. In my case, I did applied last Nov. 13, 2010 and until now I'm waiting for the response. My application already beyond the application processing time maybe because I forgot to include a document. I got a new message thru MYCIC page last Dec. 29, 2010 asking me to forward/upload additional documents re: Job Offer Letter. I'm hoping that the positive response will arrive before my WP expires this 12th of Jan 2011.

I Got the update from the CIC saying that they have sent my document to supervisor for the further reviewing and they will let me know in 90 days time..And as i have applied my extension of wp before the expiry date i am in the implied status.Does anyone has come across this situation. Can a expert tell me what does this mean.Are they looking for more documents or what?..I have also applied for my PR and it is in the IN PROCESS.
