Urgent - My Family Application

Dear all,

I am writing this email disparately seeking an advise on my family sponsorship application. I've communicated the visa office requesting for the clarifications with no positive feedback provided!

I am a (Canadian PR holder) residing in Montreal, QC and have applied for my family (wife and kids) for sponsorship last November 2011 as they were based in Syria. The application was sent with full requirements (Forms, Supportive Documents, Medicals, Police Clearances ...etc.).

Dec, 2011 --> Received an acknowledgement from the CIC.
Jan, 2012 --> Received a letter telling me that the application has passed the 1st stage (assessing me a sponsor and I've met the federal requirements)
In
Feb, 2012 --> Canadian Embassy and Visa office in Syria closed due to violence and risky situation there (They have mentioned that the visa office will operate from Jordan & Lebanon)

Till now I didn't receive any feedback from them!.
I've called them twice (on Jordan office) and they were always pushing me to communicate with them through email only!
So far, I've sent 2-3 emails (sent on Feb and May) with neither a feedback nor a response!

Would someone advise on:
- How can I reach the visa office to check on the status of the application?
- Usually, how long it will take to finalize the application?
- Is there a chance to fast track the application processing?
- Any other valuable advice?

The reasons I am seeking the above are:

  • I just want to know where is the case now after closing the Canadian visa office on Syria.
  • And, I have moved my family from there due to the unstable situation (war).
  • And, I want to update the case as I want to add my new baby born (who wasn't born at the time of the application submission)

Lalatata,

thanks. Usually what is the process of contact the MP? Shall I request anything specific or just a clarification?

As far as I know, that Case is still within the time frames. However, my issue is that my family are in a middle east which is not safe for them!

hi tender_heart
so sorry for ur situation, why don't u join us here:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/amman-spousal-since-january-2012-or-late-2010-t94810.645.html

we started to b an active thread a little and maybe u can get some useful tips :)

as for ur question: if ur family r Syrian nationals then their application is in Amnan, Jordan; unfortunately the process is how it is, u cannot really do anything to speed it up no matter how bad the situation is there; the only thing u can do based on humanitarian and compassionate grounds is to apply for visit visa for ur wife and baby; if it gets rejected then try to apply again for trp (temporary resident permit); u need strong cover letter - small baby in a war zone, no basic necessities, dangerous situation etc (if they r still in Syria); if the embassy considers that they r safe then they might not get it

yes u definately need to update them by email of the new baby born; the baby is not Canadian citizen hence needs to be added to the application; otherwise ur wife will get the visa but still cannot come cuz the baby does not have the papers; they will probably ask u to update some forms and all this will delay the process

currently the embassy in Amman is processing applications received in march-april 2011; so there is still a long wait

also they might not reply to ur emails cuz it's not u who is supposed to send them emails; it should b ur wife the applicant; even if they don't reply i'm sure they read it and make the necessary updates; but general questions they usually don't answer

good luck!!

another thing; since u r a Quebec resident u also need to pass the Quebec provincial requirements, apply for CSQ for ur wife; the embassy does not start the process unless the applicants r accepted by Quebec as well; but now i'm confused, ur child might need CSQ too but s/he was not in the initial application; so not sure how u should proceed; u should call CIC in Canada explain abt the new born and also MICC; good luck!!

Thanks mate,
May I ask what do you mean by CSQ and MICC?

By the way, my PR is federal but moved to Quebec for living. Doe's it make a difference?

Moreover,
I moved my family outside fro Syria due to the situation there (I am Palestinian so can't get them to Palestine as well), Does it make a difference to the visa office?

How can I update the my application with my new baby?
shall I just send a normal letter for Visa Office in Amman?
Or, is there a specific form to be used?
Do I need to make medical tests for my baby born and attach it with the letter or it is not required because if his age?

CSQ is Quebec selection certificate and MICC is ministry of immigration of Quebec.
If you are resident of Quebec you need to get CSQ and shold be approved from MICC after getting approval from federal. In your case if you are planning to stay in Quebec and have your address changed may be you could end up longer then usual process time.Because you are living in Qubec and you have to provide CSQ.
There was case few months ago where the sponsor was from Quebec and moved in the last leg of process to Ontario, then he had to send all the document ,tax returns and financial evaluation again to federal.
If you intend to stay in Quebec you better get CSQ for your wife and kid.and update your application with the info of new born.
Until cic doesn't know you moved to Quebec no one is going to ask for CSQ .Once they come to know you hav to providethe documents.Better make up your mind and send the certificates as soon as possible.
There is a chance which I am not sure but think it is possible that your family will get pr earlier being the Quebec resident.CSQ also has an expiry daye and most cases are done within the expiry date.

Dear All,

I am bit confused!

I am already a PR holder residing in Montreal, QC, and have already applied for my family under the: "Family Class Sponsorship" category. I've received a confirmation about the first stage says: "I've met the federal requirements as a sponsor and the application will be forwarded to the visa office as request (in Syria)". Even when I check the status of the application online it says that they've received it in Dec, 2011 and it is under processing (Stage 2)

Why do I need the CSQ? While I am applying for my family under the: "Family Class Sponsorship"? I didn't apply for them under the refugee category.

Moreover, how I can update the application with my new baby? shall I send email? new application form? normal covering letter? ...etc.?

CSQ in not for refugees it is for Quebec residents.Quebec has their own immigration system along with federal.
Thats what I was telling you ,your pr is in process but once visa office will come to know you are Quebec resident they will they will ask you to provide CSQ and will hold the PR.
As far as baby is concerned I guess write a letter along with birth certificate to visa office.
