Hello Seniors,

I have got PPR in July 2013, they gave me a visa till May 2014 to complete the landing. Due to personal reasons, i couldnt do landing so far. But i want to do it before visa expires. I am in India currently, so i was looking for options to land. As per my understing i have to travel via Air and i can do the landing at port of entry.

Few queries

1. I dont have any other Visa (transit visa) other than the one stamped from Canada to the landing. So while booking tickets, do i need to take care of transit visa requirements of the country where i transit? Say some of the flight options has transit as one of the US airport. So any advice on itinerary?

2. I am planning to land (preferably in Ottawa or suggest if any other airport good/easy process to complete the landing), complete the landing formalities and stay in Ottawa for a week with friends and then return to India. Let me know if it can be done once landing is completed.

3. What all documents required for landing (i am under CEC category)? Does proof of funds needs to be shown?

Thanks in advance the help.

1. Not sure about US transit. But I believe most transit visa can be acquired at the airport when you land. I also believe UK needs a transit visa (must be taken before flying???), Dubai gives you transit visa at the airport if you want to go out, and you can go out of airport, stay at hotel and check out dubai.

Check: http://www.immihelp.com/visas/transit-visa-requirements.html

Edit: UK does not need transit visa, if you are traveling to Canada (with valid Canadian visa) and not going out of the airport in UK.

2. It takes anywhere between 10 -20 minutes to complete landing, so yeah you can stay where ever you want after wards.

3. Passport, COPR, Bank statement (if you have), any document with an address (if you have). Bank statement is not necessary and no requirements on funds. But it is better to keep them at hand, in case they want to see it.

+1 to iamroth.

1. I believe if you are staying within airport in Dubai/Frankfurt you dont need a transit visa as long as you are holding a valid visa to Canada. You dont have to travel to US.

2. You can stay in Canada as long as you want after landing, you are a PR. But keep in mind that when landing you will have to give a Canadian mailing address to get your PR card and it will be mailed to you in about 6 weeks. If you are not giving a Canadian address then you have 180 days to give a Canadian address. Otherwise you will have to Pay for your PR card.

Check travel requirements here, including transit countries:

Hopefully the link is still valid. I can't test it on my phone as it redirects to mobile homepage.

Check for which ever airlines you want to travel using if their home country (the place you will transit) requires a visa to transit in the airport. I'd assume you're just staying in the airport? I've never had a problem, but I'm Egyptian, and I know that it depends by your nationality.
