Is 2173 a regulated NOC. Please advise. I got PNP PT for NOC 2173 0n 11 Jan 16

The immigration consultants informed that NOC 2173 is regulated profession and takes 15 months to get the certificate.

Now that I got OPNP PT with CRS 412, WES, NOC2173 what should be done?

Will appreciate your quick advise

There is nothing to worry if you are outland applicant. I have done my study on it. People have already got 600 points with 2173 NOC.
There is one guy who had put 2174 in NOC while applying for OINP. OINP changed his noc to 2173 because that was best matching with his job description. so there is nothing to worry about it. Just go ahead with application filing.

Here is what job bank is saying about NOC 2173:

"Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of professional engineers is required to approve engineering drawings and reports and to practice as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)"

It is not applicable to you unless you are working as for professional engineering drawing, design, or report and your contract does not mention that you need a license.

Simply put, software engineers who do software programming do not need to have P.Eng and by extension do not need a license.

Hope this clarifies.

one of Lawyer advised me that what is the designation mentioned in your work permit I have to put that NOC..if it so, I am under 2173.

Sam - Your lawyer is right about choosing NOC. However, for licensing, please refer to the below comment:

"Licensing by a provincial or territorial association of professional engineers is required to approve engineering drawings and reports and to practice as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)"

It is not applicable to you unless you are working as for professional engineering drawing, design, or report and your contract does not mention that you need a license.

This. And not only for 2173. For any other regulated profession (outland applicants).
