I need help filling out the 5257 forms...

imm 5257B allows for 10 characters UCI while the IMM 5257E allows for only 8 digit UCI..

My UCI pattern is xx-xxxx-xxxx.

How do i correctly put UCI in the forms? In IMM5257B, I input UCI without the hyphen but in IMM5257E, even without the hyphen, I can only put 8 characters.

Hi,

You must use the correct form, and not both the forms. Application for TRV is IMM 5257.

Do get the correct list of documents for your country + do check if you have the latest version of the correct form

Cheers

Hi bryanna

The forms are the ones i downloaded from the site. Those are also the forms that are required to be attached for online application.

Without those forms the "continue" button will not appear.

If the form(s) does not allow for the 10-digit UCI Number i.e. XX-XXXX-XXXX then leave the UCI Number field as blank.

You must mention your UCI number in the cover letter/other documentation + in the Background section (Have you previously applied) of the TRV form

Will it be safe to just put the uci without the hyphen?

And mention it in the letter of explanation?

As your previous TRV refusal letter has a 10-digit UCI Number, you must mention this 10-digit number in any visa application. Do not shorten it to 8-digits.

Input it as per the format allowed for that field

I think that's the application number on the refusal letter, not the UCI.
My UCI only appeared in the TRV process on the visa stamp (I learned my UCI from my PR application).

No big deal if she enters it incorrectly as they will double-check.

Hi,

My UCI number was also 10 digits number but the form only allowed 8 digits, so I had entered just the first 8 digits and resubmitted the application. Do you think it will be an issue? Can I correct it? I submitted the file again on March 26th?

Please help, I am worried if my application can be refused due to this mistake...

Does CIC have both 10 and 8 digits UCI numbers...

As long as you entered your previous visa application details correctly (in the other sections), you should be fine

No, this will not be a reason for refusal

Thanks! But I don't think there was any other section to enter that information. Only 2 forms that had place for this number was main form and schedule background info, so in both places I think I entered only first 8 digits that was allowed for me to type... other documents such as letter of explanation, statement of purpose, etc. I gave them the explanations for the issues they had raised in previous application but I didn't specify the previous application... I listed all the X checkbox in bullet form and provided the explanation... :-(

No, this will not be a reason for refusal
that's a relief...

Yes, CIC has both 8-digit and 10-digit UCI Numbers
okay thanks...

He Bryanna, I have left a post in another thread (Visitors Visa (TRV) Processing time 2016 India) whenever you have time, can you please see what might be wrong we are doing that we got refused???

Thanks a ton for your reply!

Hi bellaluna! :)

the xx-xxxx-xxxx pattern specifically says it is the uci. It is purely composed of numbers in that pattern.

Opposite it is the application number. It is alphanumeric.

There was a question somewhere in 5257E asking if you have every been refused a visa or permit before and the other is if you have previously applied to enter or remain in canada.

You can state the complete uci there too.

Yes, there was a section, I just entered the following details like below:

Visitor Visa - Applied On 6 Jan 2017 - Refusal due to employment letter not provided...

I didn't mention the number there :-X
