Hello friends,

I have an urgent inquiry. I have applied for permanent residency for my wife( spouse or) she was on post-graduate work Visa before the that. Her post-graduate visa and health care card is expired. My question is, what happens to her health care card? Can we still use or she is already eligible for new one as she is waiting for her pr. Please help

We need more information.

How did your wife apply for PR? Spousal sponsorship? As your spouse through Express Entry?

You haven't provided enough information.

So I assume that means you are already a permanent resident and you applied to sponsor your wife under the spousal sponsorship program.

Did you apply inland or outland? If inland, did you include an open work permit application with the spousal sponsorship application? Was the entire application received before or after your wife's PGWP expired? Also, which province are you living in?

If you did not include an OWP with the spousal sponsorship application, then she would now be in Canada without status (she would have fallen out of status in Canada when her PGWP expired). Unfortunately I don't see any way she can obtain OHIP coverage at this time. She will need to wait until she has PR and can renew her OHIP card.
