Hi

Need urgent help.

I just saw my kids passports for renewal of their visitor visa( my spouse is on student visa and we are on dependent visas here in Canada) in canada and realised that their passport are expiring on 4th nov'14. I'll be submitting passport to indian embassy tomorrow but their website says processing time is 2 months where as my kids canada tourist visa will expire on oct 3 '14 and visitor permit on 4th Nov'14. What can be done--what are the steps for canada visa extension - please advise

Apply for visa extensions but 30 days prior to expiry of the status and btw, this can be done online.

hoping to get the passports early ...but the indian embassy's website says 2 months...

whats the alternative if i don;t get passports early :(

Your only option is to renew the passports before they expire. So you're going to have to do that. Your kids' status in Canada will expire, unfortunately... but the good news is that you'll have 90 days after their status expire to restore them. So what you'll do is immediately after you receive the new passports, you'll apply for restoration of status. It is more expensive than just extending their stay, but it's your only option. When you send the application you'll have to be very clear that the reason why their status expired was that their passports were in possession of the embassy.
