Urgent help required in deciding correct NOC for filing CEC application

Hi all,

I am new member to this forum. I have gone through couple of discussions in this forum and finding it really useful. I will be applying for CEC application as per new rules coming into effect on 2nd JAN 2013. I need help in deciding correct NOC - either 2173 Software engineers and designers OR 2171 Information systems analysts and consultants ?

July 2010 to DEC 2010(6 months) - occupation given in my work permit is embedded sys software designer- designation given in my company's offer letter is senior associate consultant

June 2012 to DEC 2012(7 months)- occupation given in my work permit is software engineer - designation given in my company's offer letter is Consultant ( NOC code/title given in LMO is 2173 Senior SAP BASIS consultant)

I have gone through detailed duties given on HRSDC site for 2173 and 2171. some of the dutied are matching with 2173 and some of them are matching with 2171. My basic duties are implementation, installation , upgrade and maintenance and support of SAP systems. It will be great help if someone from IT background can inform the best fitting NOC code for my application. I am really confused as NOC given in LMO is 2173 ,but the title Consutant is matching with 2171. Any inputs will be really appreciated.

Don't worry about matching the title (besides, you can be a consultant in just about any occupation). You have to match the job duties. If you say 2173 is the best fit, and that's what's on your work permit, it's a no-brainer.

Can someone confirm that following is the main duties for NOC 2173(software engg.)which I need to use while preparing Emp Reference letter?

Software engineers and designers perform some or all of the following duties:
•Collect and document users' requirements and develop logical and physical specifications
•Research, evaluate and synthesize technical information to design, develop and test computer-based systems
•Develop data, process and network models to optimize architecture and to evaluate the performance and reliability of designs
•Plan, design and co-ordinate the development, installation, integration and operation of computer-based systems
•Assess, test, troubleshoot, document, upgrade and develop maintenance procedures for operating systems, communications environments and applications software
•May lead and co-ordinate teams of information systems professionals in the development of software and integrated information systems, process control software and other embedded software control systems.

Hi,

its always better to go with NOC2173 ,Since your LMO has same.

as per HRSDC the duties are correct , but dont copy paste the duties from website.

I will not copy paste duties from HRSDC website. I will just use it as reference while preparing reference letter.
