So much panic man... enjoy the moment! Change status from WP - PR. You’ll know what to do when u get your passport back.

Hello,

I got my PR approved about a week ago. My old passport is expiring in November so I went ahead an got it re-issued from the embassy which has also arrived. How should I inform CIC before sending it for stamping to CoPR office. Is there a way you can upload new documents on your profile or do we need to send an official request form to CIC?

Thanks

It won't create any problem, my passport expires this sept 15, received ppr on april 15. I already have my COPR. As long as you go to canada before your passport expires, and renew your passport there.

@PPSB15 Hi, I haven’t received my PPR and I’m hoping I’ll receive it in the next few weeks. Does the PPR letter strictly say our passport must be valid for 6months? Does it give an alternative option? My passport expires in Jan 2020 and around July 11th I’ll have only 6 months more of validity! Should I renew my passport?

Totally fine to send the current passport. Got my approval and passport. Then u can change status with the new passport. :) All good and congrats!

@maplegoal Are you an inland or outland applicant??

Hi guys, my sister has got passport request today i.e 2nd may, 2019. But her passport expires on 3rd nov which is exactly 6 months from today. Now if we send the passport it will take 2-3 days to reach them. Now what should we do ? Should we send the old passport ?
Or get a new one ? And if we get the new one, then how to update the CIC about that because ever

Hi, how did your sister approach this situation?

No, it did not say my passport should have 6 months validity, my passport's validity was 5 months when I received my COPR, already landed in Canada, didn't face any problem.

Thank you so much for the information :)

We had submitted our passports to VFS yesterday. My spouse has got 2 passports.. VFS took both these passports..the new and the expired one.. is this ok for them to send 2 passports? Both the passports had travel history.. is it normal?

no.. the old one is expired but has a significant amount of travel history in it
Errr... I’m under the impression that PPR is done for the currently valid passport so that they can stick an entry visa so you can exit your country and enter theirs.

If any, an old passport will be useful to IRCC if they need info on your travel history. Other than that, I have no idea why an old passport would matter... or would need to be sent to VFS alongside the current one.

@phl2019 let's see now. Ideally they should have returned it

Hello
I got my passport request yesterday for PR and I hold two passports one is cancelled and One is valid. Do I need to send both passports or just the new one. ( When I applied PR I have new passport number on the application but the old cancelled passport has some visa stampings on it and also some stamping for entry).
Thank you
