We sent my medicals and the RPRF fee in the mail in JULY!!!! WHAT THE HECK!? We also faxed both of them and followed up with the Dr who did it and they said they were sent off!
Going to be sending the receipts for both of those again along with an email back with the Medical information.

BUT

They are asking for the FBI clearance still - I was supposed to be exempt since I left the US a month after my 18th birthday and have been in Canada since. What the heck am I supposed to do?!? Doesn't it take MONTHS to get an FBI clearance?? I sent with my email with the receipts from my Medical exam that I shouldn't have to send the FBI clearance. . . . I seriously am so scared right now. Someone, please advise!

First - you forgot to delete your real name from your original post - you can go back and edit it now.

The first thing you should do is go to your local MP's office. Bring with you any proof you have that you took the medicals, paid the fees, and sent them. (Receipts, credit card statements, name and address of the panel physician, etc.) Explain the situation , that you have sent in these things already.

If by any chance your mail was lost, I think the MP can give the VO your RPRF fee receipt and the proof of your medicals. Those things the VO doesn't need physical copies of, right? So you can just fax or email them again, by yourself, or through the MP - whichever you are instructed to do.

As for the FBI - get your fingerprints taken now and send them off to the FBI, and attach a cover letter saying that it is urgent. I have heard that sometimes they do hurry it up if you demonstrate that it is urgent. Include a printout of CIC's email.

When we needed to submit an additional police certificate within 45 days and there was no way we were going to make that deadline (the embassy said they need 2 months) our MP's assistant explained to us that if CIC knows that we are actively trying to comply, they will not cut off our application on the deadline date. Anyway, explain the situation, and get the MP to make a request to extend your FBI deadline. (First check how long the FBI says it's taking now.)

Your VO may or may not respond to your emails - ours didn't. But when we asked through our MP, we got back an answer within 24 hours.

Don't worry. It'll be ok! Just gather up all the proof you have and go to your MP's office and ask for help.

I hope it's going to be alright for the OP, but...the current processing time for the FBI PCC is 12 weeks (thanks to a computer upgrade that apparently isn't going so well).

There's no way that the OP will have it before 15 Oct, unfortunately.

Hopefully, someone at CIC will have compassion and extend that deadline.

I really do not understand the FBI thing. It says ON the CIC website that an FBI clearance is only needed if you have lived in a country for over 6 months since you're 18 birthday. Technically that makes me exempt. Guess not.

We have a friend who works for the FBI, I've contacted my parents who are good friends with him and he might be able to help us. Fingers crossed.

My husband and I are going to our MP's office tomorrow morning. I've once again emailed out the information with our Medical UMI# to the email they told me to.

I'm devastated.

It's going to be ok, don't worry! Things move much faster and better when the MP is involved... you did your due diligence so you will have no problem.

They might still insist on the FBI clearance (I think) but they will wait for it.

I guess they mean a country *other* than your country of origin? This is so frustrating I'm sorry to hear about this. Hopefully the MP will help!

Well, I HAVE heard of people being requested police certificates from countries they livd in for only 5 months, or countries they lived in before they were 18 or more than 10 years ago... so I'm not surprised.

As for me, they requested a second Russian police certificate from me just because they didn't like how mine looked.

CIC can request PCCs even if you technically don't have to provide one based on the rules you quoted (unfortunately like many other aspects of processing, it's really up to them). Based on what I've seen here, they typically do request a PCC from a person's home country even if they haven't lived there for six months since the age of 18. We've also had a number of cases here were people didn't live somewhere for a full six months (let's say it was 5) and the PCC was requested all the same. I think it's unlikely you'll be able to get out of it now that the request has been made. I would do what you can to expedite the process of getting one. Good luck - sounds like you're almost there.

My family is getting information from some friends we know who work for the FBI to see if they can get anything expedited for me.

I can get fingerprinted IN Canada right? Does anyone know the fees for fingerprinting and for the FBI clearance?

We are heading to our MP's office tomorrow morning with all of our documents and receipts.

I'm willing to jump through any hoop they need me to, as long as they don't cancel my application!

Oh dear. I just received one of my PCCs today and I "don't like" the way it looks. So much hassle getting it for a piece of paper that a 5 year old could fake? I hope they *like it*...

Missmatalini, sorry to hear that they're giving you hell at this stage. You did all you could so hopefully this won't be an issue.

You didn't misunderstand it.

They're just saying "in general" they don't need the police certificates, which implies sometimes it is needed.

Fingerprints can be done in Canada, RCMP or city police in the area you reside will do it for about $60. You need to show proof of residence in that city, something like bank statements or bills with your name and address should do if it is not on your ID. Call your local police station non-emergency line to confirm.

Does anybody think it is a good idea to respond with what the OP has before the deadline first? And send a letter with explanation on why the first notice was not received or responded?

I had it done 2 weeks ago in BC. $50 for the initial set of fingerprints and $15 for each subsequent set -if you need more than one.
