Urgent Help Needed with the situation

I need an urgent advice on what to do?!

Actually, I just graduated and my visa will be expiring on 30th September 2013, but before that I need to apply for my post-grad work permit, so for example if I apply my post-graduation work permit today(i.e. on 9th of Aug) I will be hopefully getting that by the mid of September. And, after that I will have to apply for my temporary visa extension...as my study permit is expiring on 30th Sep.

But, I read on CIC's website that you should apply for your visa or any other extension 30 days prior to your status expiry date. So, for example if I get my post-grad work permit on 15th, I will only have 15 more days for the renewal.

What should I do? Should I apply for bridge extension?? Can someone please tell me the importance of bridge extension?

At the moment, you needn't worry. Even if you apply of 15 September, you are good to go. I have filed for work permit for couple of people during last week ( of 90 days ) they got the work permit. TRV is another thing. You only need to worry about it if you are planning to visit your home country as you will need it to re-enter Canada. What's important once you are in Canada is to keep your status alive which is study/work. Also just to let you know, this work permit is one time only. So take a decision wisely. Assuming if you have completed just one year program, you will get just one year work permit and upon completion of your work permit, should you feel that you haven't secured a job with LMO, you can't apply for another PGWP, it's one time thing.

Should you decide to pursue another program when your PGWP expires, after completing the second program, you can't apply for PGWP. So keeping that in mind, take your decision and move ahead with it.

Cheers!

Thank you so much Sabby, I was freaking out because of this, I thought that the visa has to be renewed, after the expiration date of study permit(which was 30th Sep in my case) and as I am not leaving this country, I don't have to apply for that I guess, I mean for now. Yes, I am well aware of that work permit extension situation, and that is the reason I am applying for full time permanent job positions at some good companies, I got some good responses from couple of companies and I hope I will be able to use the services of the company that I will be working in for the extension of my work permit.

Can you please define LMO Sabby?

Thank you so much! :D

Anytime Mate, anytime. LMO stands for Labor Market Opinion. It is issued by HRD. An employer requests for LMO while hiring a domestic or foreign employee.

Now, if you secure a job relevant to your profile say of NOC B category and you secure an LMO, of course, your chances of PR are higher. But then different provinces have different criteria, like in Alberta, a Kitchen helper can apply for PR but in Ontario it falls in NOC C category. Anyway hope your query is resolved and wish you best of luck for your job hunt.

Hey Sabby, just want to let you know I am here in BC, is there any listing of those categorical classifications based on NOC, for example if a person is doing a highly skilled job like that of a Data/Intelligence Analyst, what kind class will he fall into? and one more thing, do I have to apply for something else as well after my post-graduation work permit? I thought Visa was for renewing the status of an immigrant. I am sorry for bothering you again and again with my questions, but I am very thankful to you for your help, this is the best forum for clearing your doubts and confusing terminologies of CIC.
