Hello friends,
I need your urgent help as my wife's work permit application has been refused on the grounds of finance :(.
I am on post grad work permit in canada, so i applied for the work permit of my wife 2 weeks back.
Surprisingly they did not ask me for any financial documents in the checklist so i didn't submit my bank statements or anything.
today i got the mail that it has been refused on the fianancial grounds.
Could you please help me to figure out what went wrong? Did i miss something? I filled out 3 forms (imm1295, imm5257, imm5707) when I applied.
Did I miss to provide bank statement details even if it was not on the list of documents required?
Thanks and I appreciate your help.

Is this an open work permit? Or just applying for a work permit?

it's open work permit
Thanks.

Financial? Is that what it actually said?? Maybe Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)? Did you apply to sponsor her under the family class inland?

EDIT: I just looked at your list of documents, and I am wondering if they are for an open work permit or not. You really only need: IMM 5556 (Checklist), IMM 5710 (Work Permit application, with NO EMPLOYER DETAILS INCLUDED), and either a Marriage Certificate or IMM 5409 (Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union). IMM 5476 (Use of a Representative) is optional.

Did you go here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/extend-worker.asp ?

i am on post grad open work permit. and i applied for spouse open work permit.

1) applicant won't leave Canada on basis of financial assets

2) doesn't meet requirements of Bill C41

Hello friend,
i didn't go to the link you have mentioned and i didn't fill out any of these forms and i think i made a huge mistake .
I guess i applied in a completely wrong category.
I had provided marriage certificate and all the other documents , the checklist never asked me to submit financial documents.
I thought may be they don't need for the work permit. :(

That'd make sense to me ;) .OWP is only available to inland sponsorships. Did you apply to sponsor her for Permanent Residence in Canada?

could you please tell me in what category should i really apply?
I am very confused right now.
Plz and thank you.

First of all -- did you apply for a PR for her under Family Sponsorship ? Or are you just seeking a work permit only?

I applied on for a work permit so that she can come to canada and then i was planning to apply under CEC Express entry.

OP is an international student (not a PR or citizen).

Whoops forgot that piece -- thanks syclla!

OP: You cannot apply for an Open Work Permit without applying for a Family Sponsorship. So, you might want to take a look at the economic classes on this forum, as this area is targeting Family Sponsorships.

Correct friend, I was an international student , graduated and on PGWP now.

This section of the forum is for Canadian citizens/PRs sponsoring family members. You need to post in the Foreign Worker section of the forum.
