URGENT HELP NEEDED - Medical Exam

My partner was just informed of his appointment for his up front medical exam, which is tomorrow at 7am. Gotta love the efficiency of Guatemala, not. Anyway, we asked if we needed to bring anything with us, doctor said no. I just stumbled upon something online which says we need to bring pictures to the exam??

Any help would be great!

I did not bring any pictures with me when I did my upfront medical, only my passport and my money.

Your hubby needs to make sure that the doctor he is going to see is a panel physician and understands that he is doing an upfront medical for spousal sponsorship. The requirements are just a bit different for other immigration streams.

I got the Drs number off the CIC website so I think we are good for that. We did mention it was for Immigration to Canada, maybe I'll make him call back to make sure he knows it's for the Spousal Sponsorship..

Yes, because immigration to Canada covers a vast area of immigration streams Spousal sponsorship is just one.

So, because we are doing an upfront medical, the doc should give us a confirmation of the exam and the IMM 1017B Upfront Medical Report form right? Since we don't have a UCI yet...

No. The doctor will send your information/results electronically (or if not linked yet, via mail) directly to CIC. You will only include the receipt from the doctor which is your proof you had your medical done.

Don't be too surprised if you read the blurb in the paperwork, telling you that your medical results will be posted to a system that is shared with Australia.

This seems so flimsy... I've always had a phobia of "falling through the cracks" of any sort of governmental process.. I'm gonna have a nervous breakdown after this is done lol

So even though we won't actually send in our application for another month or so, the doc is gonna send in our exam results right away? Once we send in our application, they'll somehow match the 2 together at some point?

Correct. Don't overthink this too much, especially before you even get your application sent in, otherwise, you'll stress yourself to death. Just take a deep breath and take it one step at a time. If at any point they have a question about his medical or claim they can't find it, you can send them a copy of your receipt so they can hassle the doctor .. I mean, so you can prove that he's had the medical done

Yes, keep either the original (if not required for your application) or photocopies of EVERYTHING you send in to CIC, including your actual application, so you always have reference to and availability to get to paperwork if it needs to be given again for any reason.

It is a long journey, but it doesn't need to be totally stressed out. You've already found, IMHO, the single best source of information regarding immigration to Canada available to you.

Actually, I know we have a UCI somewhere since he already has a Multiple Entry TRV... would it be on his visa that is glued in his passport? I didn't see any number in this format 0000-0000 but there is an 8 digit number that I am not sure what it is.. Could it be it?
If it's his UCI, it would make me feel so much better to have it attached to the medical stuff..

I don't' know if that is the correct number or not. How did he apply? Was it online? Does he have an 'account' with CIC? That would give him his UCI, but I don't know if it's listed on the actual visa or not.

No we did it through the VAC here in Guatemala City.. I'll just assume it is not the UCI, to avoid confusion..

In my situation, my wife (then finance) did her medical exam with a panel physician in Brazil. He gave her proof that the medical exam was completed. We submitted that proof in December, along with the rest of our application. When the application finally showed up in eCas a few weeks ago, voila, it showed the medical exam had been received. Easy cheesy.

Although we all hear stories about applications going off the rails, the truth is that the vast majority of applications go rather smoothly. So enjoy the ride, and don't worry -- because worrying doesn't accomplish anything.

Did the exam yesterday and it was actually pretty good. The panel physician we saw here in Guatemala is actually a canadian citizen who went through all this process years ago, so he understood all of it. I walked out of there feeling a lot better!
