Hi,

Has any one ever called CHC HK? I sponsored my wife in November, and the file was transferred to CHC HK in December. The CHC asked for police cert from china in February, which was sent and faxed in February. They sent a letter on 4th April (received 26th April in china), requesting updated POLICE cert from China and HK. My wife sent required documents to them on 7th May received by CHC on 9th. And now they sent me letter on 16th May that they sent a letter on 24th March requesting updated police certificate from CHINA, and they have not recived chinese police certificate and if they dont get it in next 30 days ( till 18th june, as letter is dated 18th may, i got it yesterday, my wife did not receive anything...)they will refuse her visa......??? Its so weird.......
now the fact is we sent the police certificate twice from CHINA, once in February and now on 7th May, which they received on 9th May...but still they sent me a letter dated 16th May stating the above ..........Can we call CHC Hong kong and ask whats happening? we also faxed the police certificate before sending to them so they should have it, but I dont know whats the matter???? any one faced similar situation, the only number they have is just a recording ?????? We want to call and ask them what exactly they need?
we are also sending case specific inquiry, but would appreciate if some one could guide us how to contact them or what to do now......

Please Help......

You can try calling them.

For example - The indian embassy never responds on the phone and is an automated line.
But CSE will be responded. You should try the CSE, that is your best bet.

I'm also interested to know if you can find a way to actually TALK to someone regarding your immigration questions in HK. I have called all the numbers on the website and even went in person to the consulate visa office but all of them told me, they will not answer any questions, I have to either email or write to them.

On their website/enquiry forms, it saids they will only respond if their service standard has been exceeded (18 months). I have not received one single reply on my emails or letters since they were sent 1.5 months ago. Good luck and pls let me know if you can get thru to someone!!

No, the Consulate won't answer the phone, but they do answer emails within a week.

I would email them at hkong-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca and tell them what you have told us -- keeping it brief and to the point.

For example:

1. You asked for a Police Report on (date). It was mailed to you on [date] and FAXed to you on [date]. Please see attachment [title].

2. You asked on (date) for another Police Report (or whatever it was they asked for), and we mailed/FAXed/couriered it to you on (date). See attachment [title].

It concerns me greatly that you sent me a letter on (date) stating that I have not complied with your previous requests. Please look in our file, and advise if these documents have gone missing, or you have now found them. If we must now obtain yet another Police Report, we will need more time.

Sincerely,

Well, Yes you cannot actually TALK to someone regarding your immigration questions in HK even you went in person to the HK visa office BUT canadian citizens can go to the passport/citizenship section (while to renew/get a new passport). From my experience, when I was able to find out my answer (about my wife's immigration) when speaking to the citizenship officer while applying for my child's citizenship card.

Oooo! Thanks for this "trick"! :-* I have yet to get a passport for my child. Perhaps I could try sneak in a few questions when applying and hopefully the officer will be in a good mood to answer my immigration questions (I have quite a few! :p).
