Quite nervous right now, already applied for my visa a while ago and it was approved and valid, and I received my correspondence letter to show approval. Couple hours ago my travel agent suggested that I get an eTA as well which I did. Afterwards I just decided to check my application status everything still says approved but the last status just got updated when I recieved my eTA and now says invalid. Im leaving next week to study and I'm confused on whats happening any help?

Bumping this so I can get someone to see this quickly, also my eTA got approved 5 minutes after I purchased it.

Your ETA says invalid ?
Am I correct?

Once study permit is approved, document status will be of counterfoil for TRV required applicants.

Hence TRV status is only mentioned.

You were provided an ETA when you got your application approved.

Why did you apply for a separate ETA ?

I could be wrong, but that's what usually happened to me being a TRV required applicant, only counterfoil was provided .

Now that you're TRV exempt, were you provided an ETA?

I think I realize the mistake I made, I didnt realize that once you're approve for the student permit that they send you an eTA free of charge. So this makes my previous eTA invalid ( I thought the "this document is invalid" message was for my entire application including my permit, I didn't realize even though it clearly said eTA, that it was my eTA .-.) So I'm assuming it just canceled the other eTA and it has to update that my eTA changed since I bought a new one? Also, does this affect my student permit letter? Or the only mistake is I wasted 7$ when I didn't need too. Thanks so much.

This won't affect your study permit. Whoever advised you was wrong. You are given a fresh eTA after your study permit is a approved. I am not aware of eTA procedures, but as long as you have a valid eTA, you should be able to travel to Canada.

Hello,

I was approved for study permit and my passport was returned to me with a counterfoil valid until 2022/03/30. However, the application status on my Gckey account now indicates that my application was approved but the status shows "Your document is invalid."

I would like to know if my document is still valid for travel to Canada.

I also hold a valid toursit visa.

That means you can’t currently travel until you ask for exception authorization to travel. This is how Canada currently controls on who can enter

But the travel is open for international students and one can travel if they hold a valid Visa and acceptance letter.

Also my college has been approved for its readiness plan.

That’s half of the truth. If counterfoil on GC Key is inactive, they cannot travel. Is your college on the list?

Well, this seems odd cause I have found out 4 people who hold a Valid tourist Visa and Student Visa have gone invalid on the same day (8 october) it's not a coincidence.

Yes, my college is on the list.

I believe those people attempted travel/booked tickets and were turned away by the airline or the border control. Anyways, it is not safe to book tickets with invalid counterfoil. Webform IRCC ASAP and ask what is the problem and for them to fix it/or what should you do in order to fix it. Mine shows that it is valid and same does for my husband (he received an exception to travel for family reunification)
