Not sure if anyone can help me here but I am putting this out there as I am running out of time!

I applied for work permit in August last year and submitted the PNP certificate. Now, after 5 months waiting, when I called CIC call centre, they said from my file notes, I am requested to submit new PNP certificate as it has expired. The same certificate was used to apply for PNP PR and I got AOR, NO ISSUES of expiry!

Contacted OPNP they said they don't extend certificates and they can't do anything.

This seems unjust and unfair, since when I submitted the cert it was valid. Certs are valid only 6 mths, and according to OPNP, it is not renewable. How can CIC not know that and request something so unreasonable???!!! Especially after they sat on the application for 5 months?? They act like this is the first application of its kind they have ever processed that they ask for something so ridiculous. I am shocked, my MP's office is shocked, OPNP is shocked and my lawyer is shocked. No one knows what is going on.

The icing on the cake is that they have not sent me any request in writing - email or via mail. ZERO communications!

Any advice anyone?? I need to submit by this Friday 13th! In 2 days. And I found this out 3 days ago. Please help me somebody! This is so disheartening and frustrating :( :(

Initiate a formal communication yourself. Forget about these half informed call center agents. Write formally to CIC and state your case. Quote your progress in the PR application with respect to the same PNP certificate. I think the work permit is processed in Vegreville. Find out their email and write them ASAP. You will be surprised at the quick response you will get.
Remember to state how impossible it is now to either obtain a certificate extension or a new.

This is ridiculous.

I just got a WP extension at the US border this past weekend (BCPNP, PR AOR August 2014). Basically all my documents have expired a long time ago, like my PNP certificate in August 2014 and my PNP support letter was dated February 2014. The officers didn't care at all. An expired certificate is not supposed to be an issue, because like you said, CIC can't/doesn't expect entire processes to be through in the 6 months that certificates are valid for.

The only thing that's supposed to matter is that you submitted your PR application before your certificate expiry, and that you continue to meet the requirements of the WP you're asking for. It's CIC's f**k-up if they didn't start processing your application early enough, and again, it shouldn't matter anyway.

The only thing I can think of is that they're practicing some kind of excessive analness because of the OPNP QA thing that happened last year. But as far as I know there are no official bulletins released that would justify this.

I second Ed_nia's advice - email/write them with your formal response to the request, saying why you can't do what they're asking, and that you've done everything you were instructed to do in the first place. Make absolutely sure that the datestamp is before Feb 13, so if you're mailing a paper letter, double check with the post office that it will go out in time.

That's also the major problem because there's only one way to write to cic which is the CIC online form. I've written to them via the online form so hopefully I'll hear back soon. I've searched all over the Internet and the forum and there's no email contact for vegreville. If anyone knows an email I can reach vegreville I'd really really appreciate it.

Did you mention in your WP application that you got AOR?
No because when I submitted in Aug I haven't received aor. Now it is impossible to initiate any kind of communication with cic.

Glad you got yours without much hassle. It should be very straight forward application. Just major f*&k up for sure!

I think your attempt to contact them through the online form is going to be good enough. I would also suggest remembering that some if not most of your communication is with individual employees. Read this: http://www.thestar.com/news/immigration/2015/01/05/high_error_rate_found_in_canadas_immigration_processing.html and just know that you may have to contact someone above. No need to panic.
Thank you , i did see that article. I have written on the form 3 days ago and have not gotten a response yet. Tomorrow is the deadline and basically sitting here not being able to do anything. Frustrating because this is clearly a mistake.

My MP office spoke to a senior officer and they said the reason I cannot upload the requested document on MyCIC is because my legal rep can do so.

For anyone who has ever used MyCIC knows that as long as you have the log-in anyone can access.

Call centre said its a technical glitch which seems to be the case. How can senior immigration officers be so ignorant is beyond me.

And the saga continues the immigration government that exists in their own lawless cesspool.

Hi I feel that they are giving the PR according to their original Citizenship. So who ever are from India and China may take lot of time due to huge number of applications.

I've ordered the GCMS notes. Basically no movement at all for 5 months. It was on hold. NO reason given. I already talked to 4 call centre agents :(

I have Opportunities Ontario, MP office, lawyer and myself contacting them everyday just hit a brick wall.
