URGENT : CAN Anyone comeback from Australia WITH COPR ???

Hi ,

I have a question where I wanted to know if a person can travel to Australia with COPR letter and not done Landing. As per my understanding we can go out of Canada to any country and while coming back Showing COPR would be enough to get the STAMPING done.

My question is , is the COPR be enough to travel through some countries like UK etc?

Please clarify if anyone can travel to Australia and come back from Australia with COPR with out any issues in TRANSIT?

Awaiting all the seniors in the group and experienced people's input on this Please.

Your question is a little confusing. The COPR does not allow you to travel anywhere in the world without a transit visa or visa. It only allows you to travel to Canada without a transit visa or visa. If you are traveling from any country to Canada (i.e. your final destination is Canada), then you can travel with the COPR and no visa is required.

So if you are currently in Canada and want to travel to Australia, then you will need to meet the visa entry requirements for traveling to Australia (the COPR won't be of any help and won't let you travel to or enter Australia). You can use the COPR to travel from Australia back to Canada to land.

I am sorry the confusion @SCYLLA....Here is the exact situation...the person holds valid VISA to travel to AUSTRALIA So, to leave to AUSTRALIA it should not be a problem , Yes I agree with you.

If he wants to come back from AUSTRALIA to Canada with COPR in hand , Will Canada destination Flights allow him with COPR ? As in the same forum I have read that COPR is only to travel USA!!

I feel COPR would be with a DATE on it stating that , the Landing should be done on or before so and so date but there is no mandate that he/she should have to goto to USA to do landing.

It could be through any international travel I think.....In this case also, I have the same question that , with COPR can he come back to Canada and get stamping at International Airport?

Please help.

COPR is only valid to travel to Canada, no US.


SO yes, this person can come back to Canada with COPR (before expiring date) and Passport. In fact it will be his "Landing".

Just note I'm not sure if he'll need ETA if flying after March 15, Permanent Resident don't need it but technically isn't PR yet. (Visa required country don't need ETA).

Hello Gregor Samsa , thank you very much for the reply. I have checked the below link and tried to traverse through giving options but its not allowing instead its asking to apply for Visitor or Permananent residency under skilled or Federal class etc. If i need confirm with someone from CIC what is the call centre no# to reach? is it standard CIC no# which we use for knowing status of PR etc? As the travel from Australia to Canada is long one with a plan to enter through an international carrier flight for stamping its better to be very clear on confirmations , hence need those details. Please kindly provide me with those if you know ...thank you once again.

I guess if the person is from a Visa requested country, he has a PR VISA in his passport already so should be good

If he's from a VISA exempt country, I think he can need it because it's Not a PR yet.

If he's a foreign worker with a valid work permit for Canada, which I obtained on or after August 1, 2015, don't need ETA because was automatically created
