Hi ,
I Will be applying for Canadian study visa general category as I got admission in a private college. I have heard it's difficult to get under general category. Is that correct?? My tuition fees is 25300 CAD and living expense will come up to 10000 CAD which adds up to 35300 CAD. I have taken bank loan for 37340 CAD. I will not be showing any sponsor as my dad passed away 2 years ago and my mom is a home maker. Will this be an issue? Are there any chances of rejection as I dont have a sponsor. :(

sad to know about your dad's sad demise. may his soul rest in peace!

to me, this should not be any issue. . . You already have the required amount of funds (as you have the loan from the bank) .... so, having no sponsor should not be the problem for you.

this is my own opinion.can't say its right or wrong.

goodluck!

Congratulations for getting the admission and really sorry to hear about your father :( May his soul rest in peace.

Now about the financial matter: Generally the VO looks whether you not only have enough money for tuition and living expense but also whether you will have enough money to return to your home country. Alongside, if someone provide sponsor, VO looks at the fund to see whether the education expenditure along with the sponsor's family can be sustained with that fund.

Now since your mother is a home maker, questions will arise in the mind of VO about the financial sustainability of her back in the country. Since you are showing loan for your studies and (I am not sure about that) if you are unmarried, they will want to see what source your mother will use for her financial support like some sort of family business/pension or anything. On the other hand, if you are married/engaged and leaving back your wife/fiancee, they VO will ask about her sustainability. So all in all, besides showing the loan, you will have to show other sources of money for the sustainability of your wife(if married)/mother. Alongside, you will have to show country tie too and the best way to show that is by showing properties/job leave/work experience. I am not sure but the loan might also be a sort of country tie.

I am saying such because generally, when people take sponsor from someone, they show the amount of expenditure and gets rejected. This is solely because of not showing the sustainability of the sponsor/people depending on you.

Now about your expenditure, is your degree going to be a year or two years? Because you are showing a year worth of living expense and if you don't show any source of continuous income that can prove that you will be able to sustain the living expenditure in the 2nd year (and the dependent too), then VO will reject your application.

It would be better if you can explain a few things like the sources of income for your family, any prior work experience and the length of program. Then I can elaborate on the situation best suitable in your case.

Hope I have made things clear to you.

Hi rhasan,

first of all thanks for ur reply. I'm not married and my course is only for 8 months. my mom gets her income from rent(2106 CAD per annum) and fixed deposits(7800 CAD per annum). Although we are showing only our income from rent as our consultancy told me we cannot show income from FD's. I have 3 years work experience in the same line that i have chosen to study but i have been told it may get rejected as i've opted for a post secondary diploma when i have already completed my PG diploma already, I have clearly mentioned in my sop why I have done so though. Can u please help me out here?

Every single thing in your application seems to be just fine for me. You are showing the "total" expenditure and that's the best part. And your mother can also sustain financially so there will not be any problem. You will just need to show that. Well, I have shown FDRs for my financial assistance and it is a very acceptable mode to show financial support so I am not sure why your consultant said such.

Yes, I have to agree that there is a huge chance of getting rejected since you have a higher diploma already. But VOs are always open to see whats in your mind and obviously a very very good SOP will do the trick. As long as you have strong valid reasons for pursuing such path, VO will not reject your application.

FD's for my financial assistance is ok it seems, but they are saying we cannot show that our depend is surviving on interest from FD's.

Well, I guess you can just show the FDRs only.
