Hello,

I have created my EE profile (CELPIP Band 9, 2 years Canadian experience and Bachelors degree from Canada = 469 score) few months back and still expecting an ITA. The hope is diminishing each day as my PGWP expires in October !!!!!! :o What do you all think is my best bet at the moment? Study permit? Visitor visa? or simply give up for now and head home... As everyone else in the pool, I am also expecting CIC to lower the score in the upcoming draws. Good luck everyone!

I'm not sure why you think that going home is giving up. You could certainly wait for ITA from outside of Canada and be outside of Canada while your application is being processed.

That's true. Do you recommend getting my medicals done now or wait for ITA? Also, Will I need a police certificate? I only lived in Canada since I was 18 but visited other countries for less than 6 months.

Don't try getting medicals early since your processing could take longer and then once approved the expiry of your COPR is tied to medicals which would be considerably shortened, unless you redo medicals latter OR you are okay to make plans to fly to Canada on a short notice.

If Canada won't be your country of residence at the time of application, you might need to submit RCMP clearance. This info should easily be available when you are submitting eAPR and it generates checklist.

Thanks FKL for your response. Can you elaborate more on how medicals expiry work or if it is easier do you mind directing me to the website where this info is available?

So I guess to avoid RCMP clearance (not that I have something to hide, but just to save some time) I should be in Canada at the time of application and then I can leave once I receive the AOR?

Medicals are valid for one year. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/medic/assess/valid.asp

A Canadian PCC is not required. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/canada.asp

How to get a police certificate - Canada

Do I need to provide a Police Certificate with my Application for Permanent Residence? No

Thanks Canuck_in_uk & Dan_and !
